They haven't played for like what...1-2 weeks? Does it really take this long to find 3 competent players?
OW is top heavy now.
If you cut or die as a top 15 team there is no one right now that can fill your shoes.
For the most part nobody is willing to take a chance on unknown talent. And the teams that are currently floating around top 20 have a hard time getting (good) scrims so talent is going to take longer to develop.
Splyce poaching Shrugger outright killed Street Hoops.
Bird's new team literally can't find a solid 6th
Mendo is likely having the same issues since his goals are to be a top 10 team obviously. There aren't any pickups that will guarantee that in a speedy manner. I honestly don't think he's willing to invest 1-2 months of scrim time just to compete(but not beat) with teams like 1SHOT, who coincidentally are having roster issues of their own.
This is just one of the unfortunate consequences of letting people scrim during closed beta.
there is a huge skill gap. You have people who have been playing since the beta. You are starting to see an influx of people who want to play competitively, but only have pub play ranking. They don't have any tourney experience, enough scrims experience etc. You still have a limited pool of talent because people are still catching up.
All these kids want to be "pro gamers" but they don't want to go through the slog of becoming one. Hell, I'm surprised half the people in the top twenty teams are even under contract. Then I realize that the reason people get these contracts for big name teams is because they are willing to lower themselves to the terms they sign off on. Just think about it; What are these players having to give up for a chance at big paydays and opportunities? Its not rocket science, and there needs to be some sort of unionization that protects the rights of the individuals signing these contracts. Unfortunately, it is unlikely for e-sports affiliates to come together for something like this.
