If HYPED plays, IMT has a chance, but right now, they are throwing hard and playing awful
LordOfHorns [#1]If HYPED plays, IMT has a chance, but right now, they are throwing hard and playing awful
I know right. When would the coach switch roaster when the team was doing well?
Hyped is better on Zarya while Envy is better on D.Va, so unless they were planning on only running the Rein/Zarya/Doomfist/McCree or other Zarya comps I'm not sure they'd do better with Hyped in as much as I like the guy.
The team clearly has issues syncing up and with the massive changes almost every other team has brought to their squads they seem to have gotten markedly better at dive while IMT stayed the same or got worst.
I still believe they can win this even though FNRGFE managed to beat Rogue, but I'm not holding my breath.
I think that IMT win 3-2, but there's a very high chance they get upset again if they can't figure their shit out.
Sideshow [#3]Not sure why people think imt would do better with hyped. They were playing better before contenders with envy on dva. This is the whole team sucking ass.
I agree with what you're saying about them sucking ass right now and it not being just Envy's fault.
But they weren't playing better with Envy on Dva, he subbed in once against Rogue in the BEAT finals. Hyped played every game up until that series.
So people saying Hyped would be a better fit is kind of legitimate, although and as I said before, given how everyone spoke about Envy, it's just a matter of time before he starts rolling too. He's already getting more comfortable by the week.
Ultimate Advantage podcast hosted by Dogman had Reinforce, Verbo and FCTFCTN in this week's episode.
Verbo actually confirmed that they changed a lot of things coming into Contenders S1, shotcalling and such, and that communication is not really an issue having 3 korean players. Explains the rocky road they've been in for these past 3 weeks.
And good guy Verbo standing up for his team and making a case for the best teammate in the scene. So clear and well spoken: https://youtu.be/fkcFJ71pBkw?t=3454
Very interesting video anyways, bunch of topics talked about if anybody's interested.
On the side, roster lock for the rest of this season is on Wednesday, and according to Dogman, Kungarna will change some things up.
Corndoggos have been underperforming for a series of matches, their dps haven't found footing, although the tank duo is very good. They have massive potential to win against IMT, however only if their dps do a decent job.
IMT on the other hand have communication problems, and if they can fix that, this will be a nutty match.
my guess is 3-2 to corndoggos????

100% winrate in Contenders Season Zero with Verbo shotcalling and hyped, 0% winrate in Season One with someone else shotcalling and envy. I can see that they felt like they were basically at their peak and still couldn't beat Rogue in the BEAT Invitational, but they've had two months. Rogue have looked weak and IMT were still unable to beat them.
If they can't beat FNRGFE either then they are officially worse than before and the gambled hasn't paid off.
Interestingly enough hyped gets to play now that they need to win all remaining matches to have a shot at making playoffs.
The gamble hasn't paid off yet and now they're out of time.
I've tried my best to get behind the NA casters but it's really difficult. I've actually found myself muting the stream on occasions because they always seem (golden boy in particular) so far behind what's actually happening in the match. MrX I don't mind but Golden Boy is much better behind the desk.
Blank [#25]Imagine how it feels to be an IMT fan then...
Since they can't make playoffs anymore the only thing to be afraid of is a loss to Renegades.
On the other hand that that's even a scenario to seriously consider is terrifying already.

Gotta be brutally honest, I'm afraid I have to agree. I like GB, but he's so focused on w/e he's saying at the moment that he doesn't react to situations changing until after the fact.
I will say though that I do feel like he's improved a bit since the beginning, just not enough for me to enjoy hearing him cast yet.

I don't think it'd concern me as much if the camera work was a little better, but for example when I'm having to watch GB describing a Lucio coming out of spawn whilst on the other side of a map there's a Genji killing an entire team, it makes the whole experience even worse. Hopefully for the playoffs they'll have better camera work and Monte/DoA doing the NA side, because Bren and ZP are doing all the work.
LordOfHorns [#7]Ok here's the deal with Hyped vs Envy, they currently have three Koreans, and theee North Americans, there is a MASSIVE language barrier and that means shotcalling will be way more difficult
yea, they changed up how they shotcall, so that will take time to adjust. Also, pre Korean players and post korean players, you can see they are still trying to find their "color/style of play" that will fit all players best, while building that chemistry even more. I see a tug/pull in how players "see" the match and that makes for bad support ults/bad dps ults. They need to keep working on it and maybe members need to take a backseat while letting others shine for the betterment of the team.

I agree as well. I think it's Goldenboy is an incredibly funny guy, and a great host for Overwatch, but I'm not yet sold on him as a caster. I think he's getting there, and I'm sure he's a fantastic caster of other titles, so I expect he'll develop as the game grows.
That being said, I do miss Monte and Doa a lot though
I don't agree to the ones blaming envy as the reason for Immortals' failure this season. I don't think the reason Rogue, eUnited, and Immortals are failing is due to the teams getting any worse. Well, at least I don't think that is the main reason. These teams are all known for their aggressive play style, and that play style just isn't working anymore. Teams have learned to be more disciplined and organized to bring the other teams toward them to counter the dive. While other teams learned from their failures and improved, these three teams just sticked to their original style because that's what brought them the great success just couple months ago.
Because of this, we have been seeing Fate getting picked early so often in their first 2-3 games this season. And then it seemed like they were starting to learn not to be too aggressive by the third and the forth game (against FaZe and Rogue). But then now, it seems like they are completely lost. They seemed so desperate to try all kinds of things, and this time KariV seemed to be getting picked way too often. He probably was frustrated and wanted to carry the team himself, but as a support, he really shouldn't be getting picked that often. Also, KariV's sombra just isn't good imo. I still had hopes for Immortals before I saw this match, but I think they need some major reconstruction. I don't think anyone in this team is bad, but none of them are great.
I think Rogue is slowly figuring things out, but their narrow hero pool is still limiting them. They need to learn to play other heroes, and do it well. Again, their excellence made them too hesitant to try other things.
For eUnited, they need better tanks for sure. uNFixed on D.Va isn't good. sharyk's Winston gets picked too often. Vallutaja also isn't one of the best. At this point, it might be better for Kruise and Boombox to find a different team that can perform better.
