REMATCH.
Yeah, rematch of the season one finals, with both teams feeling very different since the last one. This is the match I wanted to see in the quarters to get a better beat on both teams. Both got dismantled in their semi finals match so I'm interested to see who bounces back first.
Pound for pound I feel like nV has the better cast here with EFFECT being an incomparably better Tracer than ArHaN and Taimou being an arguably better hitscan/soldier than Recry. I also give the support advantage to nV with the exception of IDK possibly being a better Lucio, imo, than Harry. I think nV will take this though I wouldn't be surprised if it went either way.
Map score roulette:
AFB 2-4 nV
The players on EnVy (specifically Taimou) have been extremely vocal about their dislike towards spending long periods of time outside of their home in the USA. They find it draining, no doubt affecting their motivation. Taimou played McCree exclusively for the first two maps, most likely would be on the Soldier if they were playing to win.
Blizzard hasn't put in any rules that require any number of players to be from the region they represent. Frankly I don't know why this would even be an issue for you.
Where a player is from, and who they play for, shouldn't matter as long as we get the highest possible level of competition. Achieving that can only help on the road to making this game successful in the long run, imo.
Relax, EnVyUs will remain in Overwatch. They are one of the teams that Blizzard needs in the Overwatch League and the future, simply because of their name, size, and their achievements. You couldn't have OWL or any Overwatch eSports world without EnVyUs, C9, Rogue, Immortals, Lunatic-Hai, etc.
Possibly, NV may change up the roster. I could see Taimou making an exit and NV picking up a talented projectile player (seagull plz), importing a Korean, or something along those lines. Effect will stay because he's a Korean talent that would not want to leave one of the largest Western organizations, even with his complaints about the game the other day. I could also see NV possibly dropping a majority of the roster and building something around Effect.
Regardless though, EnVyUs isn't going anywhere.
It's also important to notice that although Envy doesn't have a single NA player, the team is still a "Western Team" (non APEC team) making it impressive when they can hold their own and win vs the strategic masterminds that are the Koreans. The work and efforts made by Envy will help NA OW be more competitive and show more potential in the upcoming Overwatch League, especially after disappointing NA showings such as C9 out of contenders S1, Selfless Dafran fiasco, and multiple NA teams dropping due to lack of performance or minor return in investment.
