When your team puts a support player on DPS over you against shanghai :candle:
I'm very sad about this.
I think they're using him simply as a "SoOn sub" but at the same time, they'd probably put Silkthread in first anyway.
He's an amazing McCree with a very strong Soldier as well- I'd like to see them at least start incorporating him, give him some playtime, see what works and what doesn't. That's the whole purpose of a team, working as a unit, and I feel like the whole of Valiant isn't a unit right now. Grim, Numlocked, SPACE (even though he's young) and even Silk now seem to be practically separated from the roster, and I think that's unhealthy.
As a Valiant fan, I want to see them succeed, but I also find it unfair to sign players that are never used, or unlikely to be. I realize it's the sports world and it's a business at the end of the day, but they're young players who just want a shot of proving themselves, so please, for the love of god, give them a shot. It can't possibly hurt you that much, it's not like they're bad players.
Guinea [#4]Its not that big of a deal. No one bats an eye when Rawkus plays DPS, I think dhak even did at some point in OWL.
Im sure Grim will get his chance. Eqo wasnt played once in stage 1 and he just came out of nowhere in stage 2 and owned, the same thing will happen with other subs. Just wait.
Hoping so.
Would like to see Mendo come out and dominate as well.

Rawkus plays DPS on different circumstances, ie when they run a 1 healer comp. Kariv specifically played on a lineup that included all 3 LAV supports to specifically play the DPS role. That's indeed a RIP Grim, but I'm sure they'll give him a chance eventually. For all we know he was unavailable as well

Why would you play a McCree specialist with a team that runs dive comp? Agilities, Silkthread and Kariv can all play Genji and then flex onto other heroes as needed, Grim can't do that. I guess you could swap him in for Soon but then you're essentially just handicapping the team for the sake of "working as a unit".
The grim reality is that with his skillset and the way the meta is at the moment, there's no place for him in the starting lineup.

EQO wasnt in LA yet in stage 1 and I think wasnt 18 either.
LaurenceR [#13]If I were Grim or Numlocked I'd be looking for a transfer if I wanted game time, they're never going to get any currently
which teams need dps tho?
dps rosters are pretty stacked in this league
majkel1893 [#11]wasn't kariv one of the most talented uprising dps/hitscan player in korea before he joined LAV?
Yeah Harsha pointed out on discord that he was DPS on Mighty AOD in APEX (match vs Rogue for reference)

not disagreeing with their choice to bench him, but he's a hitscan specialist. not just mccree. tracer, soldier, think he was working on his widow as well. i think he'd be fine to run vs dragons. maybe he just isn't performing in scrims

Watching him in contenders, and his recent streams, his Tracer is fine. His soldier is ok. However, SoOn is miles ahead of Grim and silkthread is just a better and more versatile soldier. If there is a meta that allows for a McCree, then they will use grim. But Valiant have one of the best dive teams in the game. Until the meta switches, grim will stay on the bench
ReallyNiceGuy [#6]Why do you bring up grim when no one talks about how numlocked feels? He just plays ranked most of the day and hates being on the bench. The guy is pretty competitive too.
I bet numlocked is going to be used eventually. With tank heavy lineups being viable again I wouldn’t doubt a Fate-Envy-Numlocked-Agilities comp. it’s just a strange situation rn. Nobody expected envy to be playing this well and I believe that is affecting their comp choices
Blue [#21]Grim to me is overrated, kinda like iddqd, there for veteran depth
That's true, but there's one difference between the 2 teams, while Valiant are actually winning matches the Shocks aren't so much, they currently have a 3-9 score, that's why I was wondering why not even trying the old man? On a lucky day he could popoff (unlike Babybay who's way more consistent at high level, but not as explosive).
For Grim, well the others already pointed out, he's miles behind Soon on those heroes and less flexible than Agilities or even Silkthread, if you then also add Kariv...
Triangleman [#12]EQO wasnt in LA yet in stage 1 and I think wasnt 18 either.
I'm pretty sure he was 18 but yeah you might be right about him not being in L.A.

don't believe it would happen because they would probably run the same comp with soOn on zarya and agilities on hog, I feel bad for seb.

why is this post so downfragged??
valiant looked strong week 1 stage 1 then fell off. maybe if they tried different compositions, not just different heroes, but different players, they could make more progress and look stronger as a unit. look at how different houston looked when they used clockwork for the tracer roles, look at how dallas can run rampant with their dps lineup - the valiant (and other teams with subs like shock) should make use of the their different players.
grim is an og mccree - it was seldom he would he hit a body shot let alone miss. i want to see him get more playtime too!

Honestly silkthread probably has a better McCree than grim.
