Welp, That's another C9 lol.
If it was staged it would be some next level conspiracy...since it's just the OWWC. I think SK is just using the heroes and strats they practiced with some flavour added to it.
They have the skill to do it and they look like they're having fun so have at it!
The main question is, how much of this match's high level of competitiveness is due to the current Mercy patch and would it be as high octane if it was PTR Mercy?
I'd like to believe so because holly shit, but it's hard to tell.
It's very high level, partly because of the Mercy meta. Maybe might be the one good thing it's given us to date.
Ok, no. Fuck Mercy on 2 CP.
Nice first round speed run. Tobi died at least 3 times, huge difference in how Adam is supporting his team and enabling them.
USA's showing SK how to play this meta.
At the very least i think both AKM and Knoxx and what it takes to be in bar none. I think Winz is also a talented player, at the very least enough to deserve a position in the league and as for NiCo, well he'd need to either work on his Flex Tank role or increase the number of effective DPS he can play.
It's just sad that several players from both teams won't be in OWL Season 1. I still think teams will reconsider and add some bodies during the mid season signing window because they're obviously missing out.
Well shit. USA threw at the end of that map, I thought they were gonna go up 2-0 fur sure...
Well shit. France doubled down on China's cheese and actually completed with 1 minute. Absolutely nuts.
I have to agree, I want France to win, but seeing Bastion this much in a match is just...horrifying.
With mid season signings I really hope some of the teams take a 2nd look at what their rosters might need because Knoxx, AKM and Winz, and to a reasonable extend even Nico, are showing what they're able to do.
Edit: Comp matches on this map are going to get even worst for quite a while.
Yup, it's just hard to know if/when the fight is won since we have no clue how long Mercy has left on her rez. Unless you're using two stopwatches and tracking them both...not that I was trying to do that...
I'm OK with most of it aside from some spell effects being white so we can't see them, and making sure the home team's colours are not too lite since it makes the UI difficult to understand with everyone pretty much looking the same along with their spell effects.
I think they can improve it for sure but it's got a lot of potential.
Not as entertaining as watching a D.Va bomb take out said Mercy and her co-support, or any multi kill play really.
The boyz really turned it around in the most dramatic fashion they could have. Amazing job making the top 4! The next match is going to be much more difficult so I hope they can find what works to keep it going but i'm afraid it might be the end of their run if they don't take it up several notches.
GO CANADA GO!!
LOOOOL ANOTHER C9!!
Edit: It's even more hilarious that another team that starts with a C did it!
They had to clutch it out like nobody's business to pull this one off. Absolutely nuts.
Listen, I want Canada to win, but even though they were able to bring it back against Australia...Sweden is a whole other beast.
I think this might be a sweep but since I'm infinitely biased I'll say that Team Sweden wins 3-1.
GO CANADA GOOOOO!!
YE BOI!! WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!!
Holy shit the boys did it...wow.
My heart can't take this.
The Australia Dragon Blade + D.Va bomb combo was sick, basically nowhere to hide for Canada. On the other hand Agilities is looking much better now on the first half of Junkertown, hopefully they can keep it up.
Not what I said, I mentioned this being your first post so it's easy to sit back and call me out for being wrong after the fact.
He did, watch the vod afterwards.
You don't need to be angry because you disagree with what I say. There's going to be a lot of differing opinions on a forum, you'd do well to get used to that if you wish to participate in meaningful discussions.
They both played her. I say what I see in conjunction with what I understand and believe, sometimes I'm right, often I'm wrong, take it as you will. Can't fault me for having an opinion
Different patch, against a different team and we get different results, I don't have a problem with having misjudged this.
Considering that this is your first post on the website it must be very easy to sit back and comment as if you yourself knew everything - after the fact eh?
Yes but Australia has better support play. Rqt is getting many, many more rezzes off compared to Roolf/Joe so their picks just aren't as impactful.
That gives the DPS way more space and opportunities be be aggressive. The team with the better Mercy and the better team play around that Mercy is winning hard.
Add to that their lack of a solid off tank, Australia having a strong Tracer "one trick" and it's leading to them just getting outclassed. I actually thought they were going to pick a more Pharah friendly map because of it.
No. Just fucking no. I want Canada to win, but this Mercy bullshit just kills any sort of flow to the game.
Day 32 of Mercy watch..she's still up there...rezing people...no one is safe to die in peace...SEND HELP. PLEASE!!!
LOOOOL THE CANADA9!!!!
After seeing the Sweden vs UK match this is likely to come down to who has the better Mercy, and which team can hunt her down often and efficiently.
Now I see why you're so confident. You ambushed Fl0w3r didn't you?:

The more I'm watching the Mercy meta the more I can't wait for the PTR changes to go live. This is dumb.
The issue is we got an overload of white on top of the home team having a light color palette and the UI using white for both HP and names. Very difficult to follow even for a hardcore fan like me.
That being said, The swedes are crushing it, mostly on the back of Chips being such a good Mercy vs a team that isn't used to running one. Feels like the 2017 OWWC should be renamed to the 2017 OW Mercy Cup or something.
Looks like they're going with the Doomfist treatment instead of another Sombra/Orisa. Might be a bit OP at the start and be tuned down if needed.
I like that approach, and she looks easy to understand with some micro management elements added. Very interested to see how she plays once she hits the PTR.
That short was fucking heart breaking. Best one so far.
I have faith that if any team can pull off the win it's them, I still think SK will win, but I believe it's possible. I don't however believe that I they do win it'll take anything less than 5 maps.
Not gonna lie though, I'd be ecstatic if they did make it happen.
Really now, not even a 3-2 for the US-SK match? I get the faith in team USA, but if there's one match that should be a full length battle either side it's this one.
Looking good! I honestly don't know how all the teams will perform on the current patch but this is my gut feeling for rankings in the end:
Ready to be surprised 100%, but most importantly looking forward to some epic as hell OW matches!
Much troll, 0/10, would not buy again.
I think the general consensus seems to be Dallas, London and Seoul finishing in the top three in various positions. Really looking forward to seeing if it turns out like this or what kind of permutations we'll get to see as the OWL S1 goes on.
Happy they could make it happen for him and over.gg!
I put Gigantti on the left, for your pleasure. <3
Guess I'll add my ranking to this thread too, cause equality yo.
A Tier
B Tier
C Tier
I'm 150% unsure about the actual rankings, because I have pretty much nothing to base them on, but this is what the tiers feel like to me.

Honestly I need to see Adam, FCTFCTN, Roolf, AKM, Knoxx, Zappis, Davin...shit, too many to name. A lot of these guys are strong and/or flexible, top level pro players that should have gotten in if not for some behind the scenes politics. I hope teams like Miami pony up and add some backbone to their crews where needed.
Edit: Jack (London, C9) confirmed mid season signings, ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST BOYZ!
That would be very interesting. I think both NA and EU Contenders have enough players to form some pretty strong teams along with the up and coming Open Division ones.
It looks like we might have a similar situation to Season 1 where you have 1-2 teams stomping their way to the playoffs with the amount of top level pros left as FAs.
Totally correct. They had more individual skill than a number of the teams they faced in their run and were often able to clutch out situations but hit the brick wall that is Korean analysis. That ring specially true when the Koreans have so much time to pick apart their play and really focus on their weaknesses.
I don't think either of the western teams would have made it out of that group, with Envy only hitting their stride later in the tournament.
Nonetheless, imo they were fun to watch, mostly because of the high risk high reward nature of the comp they ran.
Not quite, D.Va is still a force to be reckoned with in the right hands and Rogue don't have that. The optimal situation to really measure how "good" Rogue was at their peak would be a relatively short LAN when triple DPS was still strong.
I personally believe teams like LH or KDP at the time would have been able to figure them out given at least two games but to a lesser extent than they did with a full two weeks of play plus how ever long they had been scrimming in Korea for.
Still looking forward to seeing how they do with the current Mercy meta and if they'll try to run triple DPS in it since tanks are more valuable rez targets in general.
Eqo is also a surprise for me, he didn't impress me much when he was on ZenGaming, would have much preferred to see an AKM in his stead tbh.
