Realistically it should because it doesn’t feel like a huge new game it feels like a huge update. It’s the same game with updated graphics, a full story mode, and several new heroes and maps. It’s a game where I don’t think it can really flop. Unless the story mode is really shitty the main competitive scene should be a lot better With several new heroes. And I’ve always said this, this OWL season wasn’t the make or break season. Next season which because Overwatch 2 is supposed to come out between October-December, most likely rigjt before Christmas, means season 4 should be played on Overwatch 2. And hypothetically speaking, overwatch peaked at 25 million players, and let’s say rn the player base is 5 million. Hopefully 10-15 million come back to the game and 5-10 million new players play the game. With the massive new flow of players we should see the tier 2 and 3 finally see the new talent to replenish the path to pro system, and with new players OWL viewership should go back up and the league will start to get back on track.
