Are you a seasoned connoisseur of European Overwatch? Or are you just looking to watch some games during the downtime between the World Cup qualifiers? Either way you're in for a treat, with the Legend Series set to kick off. A wealth of European teams will fight for their share of the €3000 prize pool in the event that runs from the 26th July to the 10th August.
16 teams will compete in an online GSL group stage, split into four groups of four teams. Group stage matches will be played in a best-of-three map format, with only one team from each group advancing.
The playoffs will play out online until the grand final, which will be hosted on ‘Big Betty’ on the 10th of August at an undisclosed location in Europe. 'Big Betty' adds a unique twist to the final, advertised as the 'world's first' esports studio on a truck. The two finalists will receive a travel package, including hotel rooms for one night and €600 for travel expenses.
The Netherlands' World Cup squad will play in Group A, presenting the opportunity to preview the team before they compete in the Katowice World Cup qualifier. Team Singularity are another notable team, having qualified for Contenders Season 1 last month. Outside of these two teams you should notice other familiar faces from the European scene, such Team eSporters Cyberathletes, Vivi's Adventure, and Helsinki Reds.
