CLG announced yesterday that their flex support player The, most often seen in the skies on Mercy, would be removed from the roster. The team has now announced his replacement, former compLexity player Shake.
Shake has been a free agent since the dissolution of compLexity earlier this month. He was widely considered one of the hidden talents inside compLexity's otherwise underperforming squad.
CLG have been rising in the scene over the course of the last few months with their PharMercy and Tracer composition, recently punctuating that ascent with an upset in the CyberPowerPC Spring Invitational over Immortals.
The was an original member of The 1 Percent, the roster which was picked up by CLG in mid-December 2016. Head coach of CLG, Henry "Cuddles" Coxall spoke on the change saying:
The was a fantastic player and friend here at CLG Overwatch, he laid the foundations for the team to build from and I'm glad he was part of the process. As a collective, the team and I felt attaining the new support who was made available to us would open up opportunities to evolve into a world class team that can contend for that number one spot. I am committed to helping The find a new home and look forward competing against him in future events.
The was quoted in the announcement as saying:
Thank you to CLG for believing in me and my team to give us the opportunity to prove that we had the potential to become a top team. It's always hard to say goodbye, but especially so with CLG. I've become friends with some incredible people here that I'll miss very much; the memories we've built will be cherished. Thank you to the fans of myself and CLG for going through the emotional blender and still remaining by our side. The kind of loyalty that shows gives me a special appreciation for each of you. As I go in search of new opportunities I ask that you lend me your continued support and I'll make good on my dream to be the best.
Happy to announce that I'm now part of the @Clgaming family. Super excited to grow and improve with the team.

CLG are scheduled to compete in the Overwatch Monthly Melee tonight, beginning with a rematch against Immortals though this time with Shake on the roster.
CLG are hoping that Shake's abilities on Ana and Zenyatta will enable the team to explore strengths away from the Pharah-centric compositions. Shake spoke in the announcement saying:
I think this team has a ton of potential to grow. I’ve been scrimming with the team for two weeks now. Just from those two weeks I already feel like this team has so much potential to be a top team and dominate the NA scene. Individually we have players that are really talented at their roles and I think our teamplay and just the effort that we put into improving is greater than what most other teams are putting in right now and I think that’s going to pay out for us. To all my fans and CLG fans out there, thank you for your continued support and I hope you cheer us on in our tournaments this month!
The new CLG roster is:
- Joao Pedro "Hydration" Goes Telles (DPS)
- Adam "waffletastic" Sydnor (DPS)
- Nathan "Miso" Lui (Flex)
- Bryan "iShiny" McCarthy (Tank)
- Jake "Shake" Kaplan (Support)
- Daniel "Mikado" Yamilkoski (Support)
