The Overwatch Heroes Rumble Tournament has been announced, featuring eight international players each captaining their own teams. The tournament will take place in Taipei, Taiwan, from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM PST on December 15, 16, and 17. Tickets for the event, which will be held at the Blizzard Estadium, will be available starting November 29 at 2:00 PST.
The tournament will run across three days, with the first two days comprising the Quarterfinals and Semifinals, both best-of-five. The finals will round out the weekend with a best-of-seven match. A unique twist in the form of Team Deathmatch and Elimination modes has been incorporated. The format for each round will be as follows:
Quarterfinals and Semifinals
- Game One: 6v6 Competitive Play
- Game Two: 6v6 Competitive Play
- Game Three: 4v4 Team Deathmatch
- Game Four: 1v1 Limited Duel
- Game Five: 6v6 Competitive Play
Finals
- Game One: 6v6 Competitive Play
- Game Two: 6v6 Competitive Play
- Game Three: 4v4 Team Deathmatch
- Game Four: 3v3 Lockout Elimination
- Game Five: 1v1 Limited Duel
- Game Six: 6v6 Competitive Play
- Game Seven: 6v6 Competitive Play
The teams playing in the tournament will be captained by professional players and personalities. No Overwatch League players were announced as captains.
From the Oceanic and Asian regions, the captains come from prominent OPC teams. Trill, tank player for Blank Esports and formerly Team Australia, KMoMo tank for Flash Wolves and Team Taiwan, ManGoJai, flex for Hong Kong Attitude and Team Hong Kong, and DCrown, tank for Machi Esports will all be captaining teams.
The other invited players come from both North America and Europe. aKm, former DPS for Rogue and Team France, zappis, flex for Team Gigantti and formerly Team Finland, Mangachu, former flex for Renegades and Team Canada, and Kephrii, prominent Overwatch streamer and former substitute for Team Liquid will be looking for victory with their own teams.
