So why is this even mildly racist? Did he say that people with asian eyes suck, or are inferior or smth?

So, for someone non-american, what is racist there?

Prison can't be a "family friendly place".

Yeah. As expected after Blizzcon.

No Tviq in top 10. Omg.

Ok, seems like I haven't watched a game where a team I root for wins for ages. It's a surprisingly nice feeling.

Faze, please. I'm drained.

I guess by playing in "competitive" you have gained a deeper understanding of what upper pro level is about? Like you can probably gain unique insight into NBA playoffs by practicing in your backyard?
I guess you've never played dynamic FPS's competitively?

That was shitty and reactive of me. Sorry.

The game has until now always been about individual mechanical skill. It has been determined and dominated by the invididual talent of Surefour, Tviq, Taimou, SDB, Soon, Nevix and so on. And western teams didn't have any real struggle with the korean teams. Until now they won every asian tourney they participated in. And NRG and Reunited were and are still in a huge slump.

What is every player at a certain level able to do - is to coordinate and compose the team. This is not Dota where you click one unit on a two-dimensional scree. This is fps.

Best Dps'es on tanks and supports. Wasted talent, stupid metagame. The west was strong for mechanical FPS skill. Current meta is anti-skill. It looks like a moba. If that's the intended direction - then what a waste.

If Nevix really is on support - I think it will be tough for Misfits. Will they have enough firepower?

posted about 8 years ago

Well it's hard to call the NA scene overrated now - because there is nothing to rate it over. EU scene is harvested to death.

posted about 8 years ago

I'm sorry but all these Korean teams have not really proved themselves against western competition. Both tournaments lost. Both finals one-sided. Although Envy and Rogue are not that dominating in the western scene.
No C9, Faze but Afreeca Freecs? I'm not really convinced that even Kingdom, Immortals, Rise and Complexity are weaker than these Korean teams with the exception of probably LH.

Seems like groundhog day.

3-2 isn't a brick wall. And it wasn't some kind of a reverse sweep, where one team "figures" the other. You are putting too much stock into "meta analysis". This is not Starcraft where a battle between units is decided by the numbers in the spreadsheet. It is a game of execution. Misfits won this tournament with a Widowmaker, although it almost always felt countered from the start - especially considering D.va's buff. Roadhog's hook kills no matter the patch.

Why would they change it? Their composition is strong, solid, pays to their strengths. It's an FPS - you need to surprise when you can't outplay. And they definitely have the skills to outplay - they constantly show it online. I think their problem is psychological. They underperform on stage. Guess that's what they need to work with. When you lose two series in 3 months you don't look at your gameplay you look at the circumstances first.

"Kongdoo should win" after Envy beat Rogue? Omg.

posted about 8 years ago

They had 1 official game with EnVyUs which ended 3-2 in the last 3 months and they crushed Afreeca Blue (their second possible choice) two times 3-1 and 3-0 recently.

posted about 8 years ago

Do you form your opinion on something other than Apex? Or were you able to find something special in his play during these two crushing defeats? (real talk :)
Because yes - you can make excuses for someone being occasionally countered but you usually do that when you have a history of this player being successful not ground to dust in 2 of his 3 official matches.

Hope this will be the end of the ridiculous Haksal overhype. It was so annoying.

posted about 8 years ago

That run was after they did a 1-week long boot-camp. The difference in performance before and after was astounding. Guess they couldn't organize something like that again.

posted about 8 years ago

So, a movement based character with only her basic weapon to do damage, a character that strips others to a basic FPS gameplay - is ruining the basic FPS gameplay?

posted about 8 years ago

Well, judging from the initial maps - our team gave up before showing to the final. Guess that's what you get with popularity voting and no competitive motivation.

posted about 8 years ago

Temple of Anubis, Lijang tower and Hanamura in the first five maps - that's really bad. It seems our team needs to take both Dorado and King's Row to have a chance.

Well, I think that Germany was a really good example of what is really the most important part of the game.

If your DPS's aren't on par - no amount of pros, no skill level of tanks, or supports will really save you. Also Faze recently won Alienware without Zombs and lost 2-0 to H2K gaming without Shadowburn. Kinda shows.

posted about 8 years ago

Well Faze are 2-3 USA team atm(considering Fnatic's problems). As soon as the DPS half of the team won't have to play from EU (including SB from russia) they will probably contend for the 1 place.

It's OK has eng commentary.

Well it's still better than deciding the fate of payload on a KOTH.

Also Tviq is the best in the world in Overwatch I dare say.

Well, that happened.

I really hope that it's RYB and Unfixed is at last back on DPS. Him playing Zarya is ridiculous.

I think that cocco is out of this conversation for now.

posted about 8 years ago

I think Fragi is the best Rein in the game.

Linkzr back to dps = instant improvement

posted about 8 years ago

Ok, Linkzr back from Zarya. Thank god. That was such a tragic waste.

posted about 8 years ago

No, sorry that wasn't a fantastic job. Overwatch doesn't really have a wide variety of casters for now. But these guys were completely lost in the pace, didn't know what to look for. They just followed what the screen was showing at the time losing track of the kill feed, off camera ultimates. As was said earlier - the main event is a bad time to practice.

posted about 8 years ago

How can a game be more competitive when players are forced not to choose the best heroes for certain situations? It's like you shoot all runners in the leg - to make sure the run goes slower and funnier, with no regard to the core of the competition. Sports is about comparing at your best - and this is a skill based FPS. Not a game where kids pretend to compete by controlling one little cartoonish figurine while two-button clicking a stream of AI-less mobs.
