A very strange match that is almost impossible to predict. While Japan seems to be the favorites, it's entirely possible that everything gets lopsided and Finland ends up winning. In fact, Finland needs to win if they have a chance of making it out of groups alive; but, my prediction of Japan winning 3-1 still stands.

Portugal wins 3-1. Italy will also do their best to go out by showing their honor.

Sweden brings their A game. Blankstralia ties with Swefits 2-2.

Spain wins 3-1. Vietnam will put up a slight fight as their last battle for honor, and will take a map.

Unless Spain steps up their game, and keeps Harry on soldier, Finland will win. I think Finland will win regardless, but Spain has the potential to upset a couple maps and make the series closer than expected. But, for now, I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and call Finland clean sweeping once again.

Sweden 3-1. But they need to try for a 4-0 if they want to contest Australia for a first place finish.

Japan will take this 4-0, pretty much cementing their position and 2nd in the group (I believe finland will beat them.)

I like these wild Cards! Just adds another country to watch out far, makes everything that much more unpredictable.

Complete domination. Either very poor performance from Vietnam, or RiP w/ Timo really brought their A game.

I actually think this roster will do very well, and it's what my dream Misfits roster is (except to have cocco on tank instead, and Reinforce as a coach), but otherwise I think they'll do well. Hoping for a TviQ vs Taimou grudge Marchal

Yeah I tried my best too. I don't know, I've seen several different variations so I guess we'll just have to wait and find out. Hope it works out in USA and Canada's favor though xD

So I did some research and found out how the single elimination bracket is going to work. I'm gonna be cheering from team USA so hard, but here is their bracket situation (if they make it out of groups, but I have confidence they will.)

If USA get first in their group, they'll probably face Germany, but then be matched up against SK in the quarterfinals (again) and that would suck. If they get second in their group, they'll probably face U.K. (Which I think they can beat), and then be on the other half of the bracket against most likely Canada or Russia (both matches that USA could take). So it's actually better for USA to get 2nd in their group, because the only truly difficult opposition they'll have on the road to the finals would be France (and France seems very beatable right now.) idk, just my thoughts.

Calling the quarterfinals to be China vs Sweden, SK vs Taiwan, France vs Finland, Canada vs USA
Semi finals would be China vs SK, France vs USA
Hoping for a SK vs USA finals and if Zumba goes for another one of his damn graviton jumps, CoolMatt will be there to eat it

there will be more viewers in other group stages because matches will be at better times for western viewers. Sydney will get more viewers, and then even more in poland, and then absolutely tons when it's in the US for the final group stage

Agreed. As of late I feel like people were overhyping them coming in, but I don't think they are favorites going into Blizzcon unless they step it up big time. (they do have a few months to work it out)

Well ID is currently not on the starting roster. I could see Dahang falling out of form, but they could always end up replacing him as well if he decides to also pursue Quake.

However, the core of AZK/Shadder/MESR/Fury is one that is extremely strong and one that will be bolstered even more when Hulk finds a good shotcaller (Grego/Phaz/Ajax/Neptuno).

I'm interested to know why you chose ARC 6 over Team Liquid. I'm in no way underestimating their consistent results, talent, or potential, but I feel that Team Liquid has been more consistent with much better results as of recent. They took a steady first place in their group in contenders, and made it to the finals as well, and although this is only one achievement, they've shown the potential to be stellar in the past (PIT NA). I think with Fury in their roster, they will continue to rapidly grow and improve. Can you see Team Liquid making it into the rankings next time?
And what are your thoughts about Cloud 9 and Laser Kittenz?

This was an awesome game, great great start to the World Cup. Just hope they fix their FPS issues, it would be nice to have consistent 60 FPS.

This is also not even a good time for western viewers. Just wait and see when the group stage starts to really pick up how many more viewers there will be.

I shoot down everything you say because you never have anything to back it up, you just consistently spew dumb, pessimistic opinions that have almost zero context. People haven't been paying attention to Overwatch as an esport because it's in it's first year and there hasn't been enough time yet. Please let OWL at least get off the ground before you start making blind assumptions about the audience. People also could not care less about player's nationalities. If it bothers you (which it seems to), then you may have some sort of weird racism towards Europeans, OR you're assuming the majority of people are thinking in the exact same way as you.
I do expect 5 times that figure, not just because Blizzard is advertising, but because how big OWL is in terms of scope and what is actually brings to the table, and how it revolutionizes esports and pushes it into the mainstream. This is what is going to interest people.
I do realize that I shut you down a lot, but that's because all of your comments are overly-pessimistic (which I know a lot of other people here agree on). I'm optimistic yes, but I'm not basing it on hope, but rather smart predictions that actually makes tad of sense, unlike the majority of your comments. I look forward to coming back here in the future and proving you wrong about OWL.
And you should listen to what KuroiRyuu is saying; if this many people are consistently shutting you down, maybe you should think about for once conceding and thinking about what we're saying. If that's not an option for you, then my question is: if you're hating on Overwatch so much and have zero hope for it whatsoever... why you are on this website then?

posted about 7 years ago

It's not a clusterfuck. I don't know why you make the point about Misfits being all Swedish- does that bother you in some way? Or do you think it will bother people who want to watch the team? If there's an eSports event taking place in Miami and some people want to see it, they're not thinking about what nationality the players are.

Your other argument about OW has never had a LAN with a crowd is completely false; Atlantic Showdown, OW Open, the World Cup, MLG Vegas, Dreamhack Winter, Winter Premiere, IEM Gyeonggi, and APEX have all had crowds. The APEX season 2 finals was a packed arena. We may not be filling up stadiums every day, but we're still getting much more sizable crowds that you imagine, and with the size of the OWL, there will be plenty of people showing up in person and online. Tickets for the World Cup group stages are already sold out.

If you're thinking that no one in the mainstream will pay attention, this is also false. An ad for overwatch league aired on ABC, a prime time cable network, last night. While everyone won't rush to the stadium right away, it at least captures the interest of some people, who then tell their friends, and word gets spread. OWL isn't going to be some quiet little event. Blizzard is going to advertise the shit out of it and it will most likely be very successful.

And if you're doubting me about that ad (which you seem to do about everything), here it is: https://streamable.com/4z01f
