CommanderX with the puns PogChamp
Excited to see how the roster turns out! Custa in my opinion is one of the best support players in the world, and I've heard he's a phenomenal shotcaller. Don't know if they'll do so well at the BEAT this week (since Rogue and Immortals are the two obvious favorites), but I'm looking forward to see how the roster performs in the future!
edit: Back in the day I used to be a Minecraft player and I was a big Danteh fan when he was a tryhard. I'll always cheer for the pvp god :P
Love IMT but I also want Liquid to win the next two maps to tie the series up. Nothing like an intense finale PogChamp
Immortals 3-1 FaZe
Had a feeling they weren't going to achieve many results. I hope EG picks up a team like FNRGFE, or maybe makes a brand new one with all the available free agents.
Keep up the predictions man, I love reading your opinions. If you don't mind I'm going to keep doing the same :P
Can you all stop bashing on KuroiRyuu? I'm actually extremely happy that he's been going into each and every match and putting time and thought into predictions. Even though his predictions may not always be right, he's making an effort to express his opinions, and start conversation among the community. He's even inspired me to start doing the same (as I've done for some of the matches.) Over.gg is a community to express opinions and discuss, so let's not "stop having opinions."
FeelsGoodMan to be right for once
...I've never felt so wrong in my life.
Despite the loss to Misfits last weekend, I still view LK as the undeniable favorites. Munchkin finally seems comfortable with the team, and their Sombra-strat full hold on Hanamura demonstrated perfect coordination among the team members. Ninjas are a team with a lot of potential, but they got away with a slightly easier group and I believe they'll meet their match here. Let's just pray that Kyb doesn't throw.
Laser Kittenz 3-0 Singularity
A month ago (pre-TakeOver) I would've instinctively marked Movistar Riders as the favorites due to their PiT and HND wins. However, due to their slightly subpar performance at TakeOver, and with eUnited now fully realizing their potential, I actually believe this will be a stomp. Unless Riders have found a way to incorporate Destro well into the roster, I could see a clean sweep coming out from eUnited. But, because we never know with Europe these days, just to be safe...
eUnited 3-1 Movistar Riders
Definitely agree with KuroiRyuu9625 here. Misfits are now starting to find their flow and are looking more cohesive overall. However, BP aren't a bad team whatsoever and it wouldn't be so surprising if they managed to pull an upset with their power-trio of Ube, Meza, and Rubikon.
But, still expecting to see a Misfits win.
Misfits 3-1 Bazooka Puppies
Going to be a very close match. 123 has a lot to prove, but so does RiP on the other hand. Pyjamas seem to have found a new groove with the likes of LinkZr and Davin, but 123 is going forward with the confidence that they've received since winning they're group. However, I think this match matters a lot more to RiP than it does to 123, even though all 8 teams have already qualified.
Rest in Pyjamas 3-2 123
I think this match is really good insight for the World Cup overall. While Flash Wolves/Taiwan are very good, they're nowhere near untouchable, as shown by Blank/Australia being able to take maps off them. I think both will be very good teams during the world cup but may/may not be able to overcome super-teams in their respective groups such as USA or Sweden.
I agree with you. I feel there should be some sort of ruleset that you can't bring an entire team to the World Cup- maybe 4 members from a certain team at max? This way, we would see a France roster along the lines of Soon, Akm, Knoxx, Kryw, Winz, and Hidan, which is still powerful, but lessens them a little bit. This frees up the competition a bit more and doesn't make the whole event so one-sided as it was last year, and as it seems to be projected to happen this year. I think that Rogue/France are definitely beatable, but it will probably take the likes of South Korea, Sweden, USA, Canada, or Taiwan to best them. Plus a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck.
Not saying I disagree with you here. However, at least during the playoffs, while EnVyUs on paper has had to go up against easier teams, the fact that Kongdoo Panthera went up against severely weakened teams makes them a little less powerful then they might seem. The main point that I'm trying to get across is that most people are calling Kongdoo Panthera as guaranteed favorites, and I'm saying that no one should be underestimating Envy and I expect Taimou and co. to take a victory.
And yes, maybe I am underrating Mighty. They did seem like a good team that had a lot of potential going forward, but unfortunately the west struck first. (Which I'm happy about, I'm an Immortals fan :P)
Bringing up Custa makes me slightly worried. I was really hoping that he could be a perfect new addition to the NRG roster. I could imagine a team made up of Snow, Iddqd, Numlocked, Harbleu, Phaz, and Custa as a solid roster. One can dream.
Don't understand why people are instinctively marking KD Panthera as the favorites.
They're an extremely inconsistent team that hasn't really proved themselves yet. In group stages, they gave up a 2-0 lead to Lunatic-Hai, and then lost 3-2 to Mighty AOD, a team with very little coordination and only a few good players. (Fate and KariV). In the playoffs, they got extremely lucky to face a Lunatic-Hai that was using Gido for the first time; Kongdoo Panthera was almost guaranteed to win that. Then, they faced an extremely weakened LuxuryWatch Blue when Luna was on main tank. They got lucky and cruised by with both of these ones. The only team that Kongdoo has legitimately beat was Rogue, but that's pretty much all they've done.
EnVyUs, on the other hand, has lit a new fire beneath them, and is currently cruising with stellar individual play and coordination. It would be a bit surprising me for me if Kongdoo took this away from Envy.
EnVyUs 4-2 KD Panthera.
Excited to see more of this guy. Definitely seems to have the ability to carry whatever team he's on to new heights. I always thought Waffletastic was a slight weak point, so I'm looking forward to seeing the new power DPS duo in Silkthread and Hydration!
Love the website, it's my go-to almost every day for all Overwatch news and keeping track of scores and events. A few things that would be nice to see is to see player profiles, actual season-5 and future seasons ladder rankings, and most definitely flares for different teams.
The thing I want to see most however, (which I don't believe has been mentioned) would be a video section. This could include maybe over.gg's version of a weekly news show, exclusive interviews with players, coaches, and casters, and also include highlight reels. I would love to see like a 2-5 minute highlight video for all games that took place, instead of having to go through a whole vod to find a few wow moments. Just some things to take into consideration.
KDP has the potential to be a very strong team, but they rely too much on the prowess of Rascal and Birdring rather than working as a team. EnVyUs will absolutely tear this flaw apart, because based on their matches vs Meta and X6, it's their coordination (plus the hard carry from Effect) that is pushing them through this tournament. EnVyUs takes it 4-2 or 4-1.
Despite not dropping a map yet, I feel that we're all overrating AFB; they've only faced mediocre-tier 2 Korean teams, and Lunatic-Hai will be undoubtedly the hardest competition they've faced yet. With or without WhoRU, I think LH takes it 3-2.
edit: seems as though the match is BO7. If this is the case, LH takes it 4-2.
