In the announcement, the Charge organization details their desire to focus more attention on the main team, as well as onto plans of localization in 2020. The Charge join the San Francisco Shock and Florida Mayhem in disbanding their academy teams following Season 1 of Contenders 2019. The Paris Eternal also disbanded their academy team after they were relegated to Open Division.

Guangzhou Academy floundered in the regular season of Contenders China despite high expectations. They managed only one match win, which landed them fifth in their group and sent the team to Trials.

According to another official announcement on Weibo, a team will not be replacing the spot previously held by Guangzhou Academy and there will only be seven teams participating in the upcoming season of Trials China.

All players and coaches are now free agents, with the exception of nero, Rise, and OnlyWish, who were contracted with the main team as two-way players.
