XL2 Academy began dropping members of its roster in early January with the releases of Mangachu, Cloneman16 and Goliath. The team went on to remove three more players and currently has only one player on its roster.
Mangachu joins a Mayhem Academy roster that went 1-4 in Contenders Season 3 and missed the playoffs. This was the team's worst finish of 2018. Mayhem Academy secured top eight finishes in both Contenders Seasons 1 and 2 but was knocked out in the quarterfinal both times.
In fact, Mayhem Academy is the only North American academy team that has yet to earn a winning record in the group stage. They made the playoffs with 2-3 records in both of their first two seasons.
Despite failing to reach the playoffs in Season 3, Mayhem Academy is guaranteed a place in the first season of Contenders 2019. All other academy teams are also reserved places in Contenders 2019 Season 1.
Mangachu is the seventh player on the roster and the third DPS player. He is Mayhem Academy's only Canadian.
The team recently lost head coach Promise after he was called up to join the coaching staff of the Florida Mayhem.
The date, opponent and tournament of Mayhem Academy's next match is unknown.
