Junkbuck joins San Francisco after previously coaching for Toronto Esports. Junkbuck joined Toronto with Dalton, HaKuMei and crakinlakin and was a member of the team's coaching staff for their Open Division title and their more recent undefeated run in Open Division before the roster all went their separate ways. Junkbuck will be coaching the Shock with Head Coach Brad "sephy" Rajani, analyst Harsha and assistant coach Legitrc.
r2der will be joining the Mayhem as an experienced coach. After previously playing support for Kongdoo Panthera, he became the coach of Newbee and eventually ended up as the head coach for Meta Athena. His time as their coach was short-lived, as the only tournament the team competed in with r2der at the coaching helm was the Nexus Cup. r2der will be joining Mineral as a coach of the Mayhem.
The new coaching teams can take advantage of the Overwatch League's short break to acquaint themselves with their new teams. The first week of Stage 2 isn't until February 21.
