LuxuryWatch Blue support player Sylph has hung up his mouse and keyboard, declaring his retirement from professional Overwatch, with plans to return to his studies next year.
Sylph played for the majority of his Overwatch career on the MVP organization and their sister teams, Space and Infinity. He first appeared on Space in APEX Season 1, where the team placed last in their group, and were ultimately relegated from APEX in Season 2’s Super Week. He later got swapped over to Infinity, who were promoted to APEX Season 2 during that same Super Week. In a bad case of déjà vu Sylph would find himself unable to advance again as Infinity followed the same fate Space had in the previous season, bombing out of APEX before being relegated in Super Week.
The support player eventually landed on LW Blue as their sub for APEX Season 3, but didn’t see any play time due to an eye condition that kept him benched. LW Blue advanced from the group stage, but met trouble after their tank player janus was hospitalized during the first playoff stage. The team failed to make it to the playoff finals after losing to Lunatic-Hai in the lower bracket finals of their GSL group.
Hello, from today on I’m a normal citizen instead of a pro-gamer.
I decided this on my own, and after resting a bit I decided to walk a separate path [than] I originally intended.
I’m pretty heartbroken so I’m planning to travel for a bit without playing games. I’m also going to read, study for some certificates, and clear my SNS. SNS was used for pro-gaming anyways.
I’m not intending to come back anymore. I think 6 months were more than enough time for me to waste. All I can say is sorry to all those fans who had high expectations of me.
I know there have been people who have been watching me since before APEX, and I’m sincerely thankful to them. Sylph will be taking his leave now. I’m really thankful, and sorry.
As he leaves the Overwatch scene, Sylph’s departure comes after a series of controversies regarding LW Blue and the LuxuryWatch organization. The org kicked Luna and Who right before the OGN roster deadline, and LW Blue later forfeited all their APEX Season 4 matches, with reports of their move to the US for the Overwatch League being the reason for their sudden leave. It has been reported that the LW Blue team plans to join the league’s New York slot, which is owned by Sterling.VC, the venture capital group owned by New York Mets owner Fred Wilpon. Sylph was supposedly not given any information on whether he would be a part of the OWL roster.
It's my understanding that he wasn't given clear word on whether he would make their final OWL roster

It is currently unknown who exactly will feature in LW Blue's roster if they join the Overwatch League. The only certainty is that DPS superstar Fl0w3R will be unable to participate in the league due to age restrictions. He won't be 18 when the league's inaugural season commences at the end of 2017.
For now LuxuryWatch Blue's transitioning roster is:
- Hwang "Fl0w3R" Yeon-oh (DPS)
- Park "Saebyeolbe" Jong-ryeol (DPS)
- Kim "Pine" Do-hyun (DPS)
- Kim "Mek0" Tae-hong (Tank)
- Song "janus" Jun-hwa (Tank)
- Kim "Mano" Dong-gyu (Tank)
- Bang "JJoNak" Sung-hyeon (Support)
