are you seriously going to try to argue that having thousands of twitch viewers because you got a game early doesn't equal a whole hell of a lot of money
besides the fact that companies are signing players and teams now, and people are developing connections. Meaning the pro scene is going to be impossible to get into when the game hits unless you were in the beta. Look at HOTS, look at hearthstone for god's sake. It's not a good idea to start a pro scene when so few people actually have access and it's this early into development.

even if the payouts are small now, you're establishing a base of players that will be the go-to for all high paying tournaments for the next 1-2 years at least, effectively shutting out everyone else.
besides the fact that twitch viewers, donations, and subs make up a whole hell of a lot more of those player's income from this game than that site says

edit: big shoutout to the elitist people who just want to shut down any differing opinion. You're making this a fine echo chamber

why does there have to be so many tournaments even before the game is available for most people to play? It's absolutely ridiculous at this point the amount of money people are able to earn just because of some random chance invite.

from my experience with blizzard games, I don't get very even matches. I'm a level 18 in HOTS and last game I played had 2 rank 1s on the other team through some weird MM magic, which is a pretty common occurrence for me to be 400-500 MMR below everyone else in the game. Also had issues with HS, but that game is entirely built around getting destroyed by legendaries until you pay up and buy packs and expansions. hopefully HOTS reworks their system and I can believe again

wouldn't mind spending 40 bucks or even 60 bucks, but the lack of a demo and conflicting opinions about the game really make me wish there was a more open beta or demo first so I don't have to sink that much into a game I'm going to hate

blizzard seems to be really big on everyone seeing the same thing and no UI advantage. They budged a little bit on the FoV, but I don't really thnk they're going to allow 3rd party hud changes, maybe blizzard approved ones you can choose from.

Aside from talking shit about summit for whining about things that kill him, I haven't seen any shittalk on there. Sure, people are mad that they can't get in, but that doesn't seem like toxic behavior that would carry over.

I'd rather just deal with and ignore the idiots than have it become an everyone wins type of game like heroes of the storm, where you really can't tell how well you're individually doing
