In one of the more ridiculous announcements by a professional team, John "Minstrel" Fisher and Team Liquid announced the support's intentions to leave the squad. While he claims he'll be pursuing a more promising esport in Stardew Valley, we at over.gg find his claims to be dubious at best. In his final statement with the organization, Minstrel made an effort to leave an impression that will be hard to match.
I am glad that during my time on Liquid we could carry on the organization's legacy of almost winning. (I'd like to thank hastro for providing free booze at the MLG after party). For now, I've decided to move to an esport with real potential, Stardew Valley.
While there is a hole in the roster with their Lucio player's departure, Team Liquid has been playing through the Carbon Masters tournament with Lui, a well-known DPS player who has been adamant in his Sombra play so far. The team has shifted Quake legend rapha to the Lucio role in an attempt to patch up their shotcalling, as he is well known for his ability to think tactically.
As it stands, Team Liquid will be holding tryouts for the 6th spot that Lui currently occupies. The official roster is as follows:
- Kevin "AZK" Larivière (DPS)
- Andrew "iid" Trulli (DPS)
- Adam "MESR" De La Torre (Tank)
- Shane "rapha" Hendrixson (Support)
- Tim "DaHanG" Fogarty (Support)
While it is unclear whether rapha will truly be locked into the support position, his Lucio play has indicated that this is potentially how the team will function. Regardless, the team will likely continue to rotate tryouts during the Carbon Masters event to try and find their best mix, though Lui has filled the position for now.
