zappis stated in a TwitLonger that the biggest reason for retiring was his personal motivation. He also noted his education in his post. “Some of you may know that I finished my Bachelor's degree in law last year and I'm looking to finish my Master's degree this year,” he said. “I'm also doing an internship early 2020 so I'm having less time for gaming in general. So taking a bit of a break from the industry for the time being and we'll see what happens in the future.”
zappis got started in the Overwatch scene on SG-1 in late 2015; the team was later signed by Ninjas in Pyjamas in August 2016, and competed in a number of offline tournaments with the organization such as the Overwatch Open and DreamHack Winter 2016.
In June 2017, NiP parted ways with the team, and the players formed Rest in Pyjamas soon after. They were then picked up by Team Gigantti in August, and won Contenders Season 1: Europe in October.
zappis would then join the Florida Mayhem in February 2018 in the inaugural Overwatch League season, where they finished in the bottom two at the end of the season. He parted ways with the Mayhem in September.
zappis returned to Gigantti at the end of 2018, with achievements including a first place finish in that year’s Contenders Season 3: Europe and a runner-up finish in 2019’s Contenders Season 2: Europe. Gigantti then dropped out of Contenders last month, with all of their players becoming free agents.
