Thank you @envysiba for bringing in your veteran professional experience and captaining our team. We wish you the best of luck with the Dragons.#RiseTogether | #OWL2019 pic.twitter.com/hDGZVqmsHK
Both teams recently made moves around the off-tank position prior to this trade. Off-tank player Gods was one of two western players added to the Defiant before Stage 3. Dragons off-tank GuardiaN was released last week.
The Dragons now have nine players with envy on their roster. He joins Geguri as the team's second purely off-tank player, although DDing has been the team's primary D.Va player.
The Defiant now have the league minimum eight players on their roster. Gods is their only remaining off-tank, committing the team to running their new mixed-nationality roster.
This will be envy's third team in the Overwatch League. He began last season with the Valiant before being released in April. He spent the remainder of 2018 in Contenders before he was picked up by the Toronto Defiant prior to the start of the Overwatch League's 2019 season.
Toronto and Shanghai have gone opposite directions as of late. The Defiant have lost seven of their last nine matches since starting the season 5-2. The Dragons have won six of their last nine.
Both teams play matches in the third week of Stage 3. The Defiant play against the Charge June 22. The Dragons play the Valiant June 20.
