Regardless of whether or not you like someone, OWL is a business and the players in that profession are there because their ability. It's a meritocracy. I don't think it matters if someone is an asshole or not. If you share the same mindset as a Reddit swarm then yeah, I dunno. Imo the ban is a bit much and taken a tad out of context. Why should someone's life and career end because of something so petty?
They are there because of ability but you also have to be professional so of course it matters if someone is an ass hole, can you imagine how long this guy will last in the OWL for Dallas if this is the type of shit he does on a weekly basis? do you see professional NFL players running around saying fuck you to the opposition? they'd get punished and this xQc idiot isn't special so he too got punished, I hardly think him getting banned for 3 days for trying to get other people banned and writing abusive shit in the report going directly to Blizzard is a bit much if anything it's a bit weak.

His life and career won't end because of what he did, he got banned for 3 days which won't affect him hardly nor did it ban him from OWL since it hasn't started yet, if he carries on being a tosser then I honestly hope to god his career does end.
Real sport and you list American pish, you do get sent off if you swear in football (real football) in Europe, not sure about the other sports barring cricket since nobody gives a shit about them outside of the US, neither of what we say change anything and him saying fuck you isn't even the real problem stop deflecting from the real issue here.
Not sure if you played football (soccer for you) but if you say 'fuck you' to a other player (he even can be on your team) or to the referee you get a red card and are banned for the next few games. The problem is most often that the ref doesn't hear it.
Thats at least how it's handled in Southern Germany.
And as there is no problem to get the proof that xqc did it (as he has used the report system to do it) it's a really easy case for blizzard :-D
Barça fan since my youngest years, played football for a long time too. If you can say that players insulting other players get sent off every time, I don't know what to say. You can see it easier in every rivalry game.
Perhaps it's different in Germany, which I don't really follow tbh, but every big league is the same in that regard.
It's common, and everyone knows it's in the heat of the moment, when the game ends, players shake hands and move on (except in small cases where it gets really personal).
Mea culpa, the video stay relevant anyway. If he want report abuse, that's his problem.
But not in stream, where lot of young people look that, and think it's cool to do the same.
The toxicity in video game (not only OW) is a problem. If streamer, pro-player, do shit like that, they encourage this type of action.
Symmetra one-trick he had for 5 games in a row before he actually reported him. Refused to communicate or swap. Djuggs got suspended for disruptive gameplay.
xQc got banned because he reported him for cheating (as well as poor teamwork and griefing, both of which are correct in this instance).
Also, Moonmoon reported xQc for abusive chat and typed 'french canadian' in the box. Moonmoon won't get banned obviously. And I know it's for the memes, but the double standard is mind boggling.
I actually like xQc, his passion for the game has grown on me for sure even if I don't agree with some of the things he tends to do. And hell, he's a fellow French Canadian so bonus points.
However, I think you're glossing over the fact that he made those reports before the match started, with nothing more than "fuck you" in the description, so regardless of the Moonmoon situation what he did was immature and in the context of the rules, worthy of a ban.
In the broader scheme of things I don't think 72 hours was the correct response, 24 would have served just fine as a warning, but the actual ban itself was warranted imo.
I actually said in a longer post in the first thread that an action should be taken for what he did, but not a 72 hour ban.
And it has been said many times about this, he had Djuggs in his games 5 times in a row before he started reporting him, so it doesn't matter if he did it at the start of it, he's not suddenly gonna swap off Sym and join voice chat. He shouldn't have reported him for cheating though and he got banned fair and square.
What he did was immature, but what Moonmoon, Tim, and some pros have done in their streams shouldn't be disregarded if one person gets banned.
Fully agree, he was made an example but if what he did was breaking the rules they should all receive equivalent warning shots.
The problem is that the community will probably rally behind those actions since Blizzard isn't seen as doing enough to encourage competitive minded play.
We need a long term solution, not just these band-aids that the general public both demands and denounces at the same time.
