After a long hiatus following the Overwatch Old Spice Tournament, Brazil finally has a new league. The Overwatch Campeonato Brasileiro has been announced by Promo Arena, a studio focused in esports events and mainly known in the region for running the Brazilian Challenger Circuit in League of Legends.
From August 17th, eight invited teams will compete in a double round robin format every Thursday. Group stage matches will be played in a best-of-two map format, with four teams advancing to playoffs. Tiebreakers will be added to the schedule as required. Both group stage and playoffs will be played out online, however the latter one in a best-of-five map format.
Brasil Gaming House (who recently represented Brazil in the World Cup), Keep Gaming and Uprising E-sports are the most feared teams at this early stage of competition, but all the teams are hungry for the win.
All the action will be streamed live from the Promo Arena studio in Rio de Janeiro with Diniz “Gruntar” Albieri and Arthur “Vecet” casting, and Felipe “Tonello” Souza bring the colour commentary.
