After a relatively disappointing Overwatch Contenders Season Zero (despite a Season One qualification), Rest in Pyjamas decided to bolster their roster with more upcoming Finnish talent. Benjamin "BigG00se" Isohanni joins as a new support player for the team after former Lucio kyynel's departure.
The team previously competed with kyynel at the Overwatch World Cup in Sydney, though they had Taimou as their DPS rather than renowned Tracer player Davin. They fell in the group stage of the event and were unable to qualify for the main event, despite taking home a fourth place finish in 2016.
Team captain zappis noted that the addition of BigG00se was not made lightly. "We wanted a more versatile gamer who was committed to Overwatch and practices in his free time," he stated, additionally noting "everyone needs to step up now." When asked about his goal with the team and the addition, his answer was simple.
"We want to push out the best team Finland has to offer."
The team will compete under the Rest in Pyjamas moniker in Overwatch Contenders Season One, as well as ASUS ROG's summer tournament starting next week.
The Rest in Pyjamas squad now features the following:
- Tuomo "Davin" Leppänen (DPS)
- Jiri "LiNkzr" Masalin (Flex)
- Joonas "zappis" Alakurtti (Flex)
- Joona "Fragi" Laine (Tank)
- Aleksi "zuppehw" Kuntsi (Support)
- Benjamin "BigG00se" Isohanni (Support)
- Jani "Seita" Paavola (Coach)
