ESports Hero and Alienware are planning an Overwatch extravaganza at the Microsoft Flagship Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City later today. Perhaps not the pinnacle of Overwatch competition, but it is certainly shaping up to be some kind of spectacle with the public debut of Fine I'll Go McCree A.K.A. that team that team with Joshua "steel" Nissan and Bradford "PYYYOUR" Ross.
It's going to be winner takes all for the Alienware Overwatch Open with 16 plucky rosters competing a team's worth of Alienware X51 gaming desktops, Gunnar glasses, ROCCAT keyboards and E-Blue mice. Not bad for a day of gaming in plush surroundings with some of the most handsome gamers known to man including lady-killers like Matt "flame" Rodriguez and Matt "clockwork" Dias.
The tournament format will be a straight up single elimination bracket with fixtures being played out on pure Payload maps (Dorado, Route 66, Gibraltar) under standard stopwatch rules with a King of the Hill decider as required (Nepal, Lijiang, Ilios).
If you cast your eye over list of competitors you should also spot another serious looking roster featuring half of the world's #1 Overwatch team, Cloud9, alongside Rod "Slasher" Breslau, but it remains unclear if they will actually attend the event.
Once again, it all kicks off today, Saturday June 4th from 12PM EDT / 18:00 CEST with the action streamed live on Twitch throughout.
