NC Foxes were one of the five teams that qualified for OGN APEX Season 4 earlier this month, making it to the highest division in Korea via APEX Challengers Season 4. With the next season beginning in August, the team has welcomed flex player Seo Min-Soo and tank player JeungMac to their eight-man roster, replacing Clover and OG on their roles.
This skulk of foxes are one of the newest teams in Korea, having gathered last May for the long journey to APEX. Led by former Flash Lux players Hyeok and Pumple, they started off by earning a spot in APEX Challengers Season 4 via the Offline Qualifier. In Challengers, they advanced through the first group stage in 4th place, and then finished in 3rd in the second group stage to end up in the top five. With the changes to APEX Season 4, NC Foxes were able to automatically qualify for Season 4 and avoid the Super Week promotion and relegation tournament that normally takes place before the season begins.
Hyeok's and Pumple's return to APEX might ring a bell for those who saw them on Flash Lux in APEX Season 1. The duo were unsuccessful following a 9th-12th place finish that season, and left the team following the season's conclusion. While Pumple remained inactive up until last spring, Hyeok took a new opportunity on wNv.KR last December. wNv.KR achieved a number of 1st place finishes in online Korean and Chinese cups, but they were unable to enter the APEX circuit due to the team residing in Beijing, China. Hyeok eventually left following the team's folding and returned home to Korea.
Seo Min-Soo and JeungMac are set for a baptism of fire on flex and tank respectively, with both of them joining their very first team. Not much else is known about the two, making them an unknown quantity heading into APEX. Clover and OG, who were replaced, were a part of NC Foxes' since their inception.
NC Foxes had their first taste of competition against Korea’s and China’s established in the Nexus Cup 2017 Summer, but had a poor showing following losses to Miraculous Youngsters and LinGan e-Sports in the main bracket. With Korea’s elite growing stronger every week, the foxes have a daunting task at hand if they’re to shine in the spotlight in APEX Season 4.
The NC Foxes' roster is now:
- Kim "E1KiNo" Geun-Hyeong (DPS)
- Song "SASIN" Sang-Hyeon (DPS)
- Seo Min-Soo (Flex)
- Shin "Hyeok" Jae Hyeok (Flex)
- Lee "Pumple" Jeong-Hoon (Flex)
- Choi "JeungMac" Dae-Han (Tank)
- Park "Neko" Se-Hyeon (Support)
- Park "RoKi" Joo-Seong (Support)
- Park "Crusty" Dae-Hee (Coach)
