and what is happening in na? also nothing
its very misleading what you said as owl is global (so also eu) and outside of it and contenders there is nothing going on in neither eu nor na

So basically there is 12 teams in Overwatch at the moment. Rest are waiting.

I think it is actually a necessary period to be in waiting. With OWL players being poached from tons of teams it has caused a ton of shake up. So having a month or so to re-build and sign the remaining Free Agents (of which there are a significant amount of) if a good thing for the teams out there.

people aren't really going to want to rebuild without confidence that a tier 2 scene will exist. In the next season of contenders I don't think there will be a lot of new big organizations.

What do you think people are going to do? Give up on the game? They have to keep playing to get into the next season of OWL. To keep the dream alive they have to keep playing.

Globally nothing is happening at the moment except the Overwatch Campeonato Brasileiro, Open Division, and OCE Overwartch Bi-Monthly Brawl that I know of.

We are in a waiting period until contenders, apex, OWPS, etc announce when they are coming back.

Blizzard has come through with the majority of their promises. The talent and framework for a tier 2/3 scene will be there, whats left is marketing and viewership it seems so I am optimistic Blizzard will come through based on the nice work with OWL and OWWC as of late

Problem is why would orgs pick these players up and pay them knowing they lose them for free in a year if they end up in OWL? then if you ain't getting paid can you see all the best Europeans playing for nothing at the highest level in the hope they get picked up next season? a lot of risks to be taken by Europeans whether it's the players or orgs tbh.

True, but I think the success of Conteders solely lies on the trickle down effect of OWL. In an ideal situation I think Contenders is a direct farm system to OWL, like for instance Envyus having a Contenders team they can pick from, similar to Major and minor league in baseball or Lunatic Hai 1/2, remember Contenders does not have to be super profitable to be successful, there just needs to be enough incentive for talented players to stick around

NA and EU are in the dark until they release information on the next season of Contendera. They missed a good opportunity to do so at Blizzcon.

As an organizational lead it is unbearable to keep players bringing their best game to the table without any certainty of the future outside of OWL. An average player should be making at least 1500-2000 euros to be able to live of the game and dont see it happening if Contenders is the only outlet for top tier 2 play.

And the wait in Europe has lasted already from early summer when all the big organizers (Dreamhack etc.) dropped their big tournaments as they were not allowed to decide the specifics of how much money they could put in the pool etc.

Frustration.
