the utopia patch idea is a flawed concept based on how overwatch is designed and based on misunderstanding of game design. It has to have frequent patches or it will simply converge to optimal lineups with a good chunk of the cast being unused or ultra-niche.

Not totally surprised. If this wasn't a blizzard game the comp scene would be more or less DOA. It's just not a great game for competitive play

I mean I can hold my own or beat anybody in terms of tracer with a fraction of the play time because I focus heavily on playing her as smart as I can rather than just mindlessly grinding out hours, so I can sort of agree with the "needs 8 hours a day" is perhaps overbearing and blocking out those of us with jobs or other responsibilities.

On the other hand, a lot of the game skills are really intimately knowing how each other plays, which is hard to shortcut. Playing the game a lot does offer a lot of subtle benefits.

Between the extra health to genji, no nerfs on harmony orb, and now being able to cleanse discord with zarya (oh and don't forget some tracer nerfs), I would not be surprised to see even more genji shenanigans.

Blizzard will have to realize at some point symmetra is a clear balance issue. With her in the game, you have to balance tracer at 150 and 200 health and genji at 200 and 250 health all simultaneously. She's a pretty dumb hero to begin with, should have a complete rework done on her anyways. Harmony orb remains a problem; don't see why they wouldn't have an out of combat delay or at least diminished healing until out of combat on it. Honestly I'd prefer that on all healing abilities since it would perhaps encourage more dps-focused comps and less support stacking.

I haven't noticed any differences for tracer. If you're referring to being able to shoot before the melee animation finishes, that's been in there for a while.

On a side note, i'm really enjoying getting randomly 1 shot by even more things (mei's rmb) /s

I talked to mabel who plays a lot of tracer and is a game programmer himself, and he said that there would almost certainly be hit registration tradeoffs for making the game more amenable to reactive play. He also said that the way a lot of the abilities work that the benefit would be less than people think if they still wanted to keep in a moderate amount of lag compensation due to the way the abilities work. Still, I'd personally take that tradeoff for the ability to actually be able to dodge roadhog's hook or mccree's roll/flash bang death radius.

It's a real shame that one of the most interesting and difficult characters mechanically is mostly useless in comp. A combination of her low health that's bursted down very quickly, an unfavorable netcode, lack of vertical mobility, and a heavy disposition toward 6v6 teamfights make it a tough time to use her outside of pubs.
