What you're forgetting penda is that in the OWL announcement it mentioned making a name for yourself by playing in other tournaments and events (in regards to the combine)

So I don't think it's going to be as exclusive as you're imagining it to be, but you have the right idea. Blizz wants OWL to be above any other event.

I wouldn't group LG loyal in that as the org wouldn't be pulling out of OW, just their EU squad. As for fnatic and Dig, thats sad to see especially since both have had major investment most likely due to OW league. HOPEFULLY they will be back for OWL with new rosters.

I'm not surprised at this, after Splyce got their investments I thought their squad wasn't a great representation of it, nothing against them, but they weren't as good as I expected. Hopefully some day we will see them back.

As for the OWL announcement having a part in it, I believe being a contender and having the players is the best way to get investments and get into the league, I'm sure they feel the same way, so I doubt they released the team for that reason

Yup, I think you're pretty much right here. I think they will advertise it on TV, I think the very first match will have an insane amount of viewers. I don't think seagull will be a "household name" but based on the way teams are set up and that all of the matches will be on LAN (I think? Didn't blizz say tht?) people will feel more engaged and more likely to care about who the players are, not just stats associated with an alias.
