In a Facebook post, the team stated that the long period of time to the next season of Contenders is why they decided to disband. While the grand finals of the most recent season of Contenders Pacific was played two weeks ago, the next season won't begin until the new year.

Nova Monster Shield was formed in January of this year, after a merger between Nova eSports Nova eSports Inactive Craz1s Wei Hsiao-chin (魏孝錦) off tank Blue Kao Erh-Fu dps WON Kuo Zhan-Hao dps NeXus Chuang Chun-Kai tank OYO Gao Rui-Zhou support Restya Wang Ren-Hong support and Taiwanese organization Monster Shield. Featuring members of the 2018 Taiwanese World Cup squad Blue , OYO and Craz1s , the team netted two consecutive runner-up finishes in Contenders Pacific, losing to Hong Kong Attitude and Talon Esports in the grand finals of Season 3 2018 and Season 1 2019 respectively.

Following the team's second finals appearance, Nova Monster Shield underwent a massive roster shakeup, with no members returning to the starting lineup for Season 2 of Contenders Pacific 2019. Instead, NovaMS fielded a roster largely consisting of former members of the Season 3 2018 champions Kong Attitude.

Despite the star-studded lineup--and midseason roster swaps--NovaMS ended the regular season in fourth place with a match record of 3-4. After beating Green Leaves in the quarterfinals, the team fell in the semifinals to the eventual champions Talon Esports.

Following the disbanding of Nova Monster Shield, 11 players who had been on the team are now looking for a new team. Several of them are playing on their respective countries' World Cup teams, including Moowe , ATing , inin77 and Jervyz .

The next season of Contenders Pacific begins in 2020, details of which have yet to be announced.
