You would almost think there were multiple six figure tournaments announced for Overwatch the rate at which these elite eSports organisations are devouring rosters... but the game has only been out for two months? It can't be eSports!
Luckily Team SoloMid don't subscribe to that school of thought, evident by the fact that they have just jumped in with both feet to the increasingly packed pool party that is competitive Overwatch by picking up Code7.
It has only been two weeks to the day since Code7 parted ways with their previous organisation, Gale Force eSports, but clearly their stock has risen in the last month to the point where they are contesting the #2 spot in North America on the back of a string of podium finishes.
TSM also had plenty of nice things to say about their new roster in the official press release:
"Code7, the former roster of Gale Force eSports, has had recent success in top North American tournaments. As one of two teams who have qualified for Beyond The Summit’s Overwatch Cup, finishing second in the BEAT Invitational, and taking third place in iBUYPOWER’s Summer Invitational they have proven themselves to be a top team in the current ecosystem.
Aside from their stellar performance in recent tournaments, we were impressed with the players’ hunger and drive to be the best, and felt that their values aligned with our high standards of dedication, strong work ethic, and good sportsmanship."
The team's longstanding manager Tiffany "Tifa" Chiu has also transitioned over to the new organisation. You can expect to see the team lining out for the first time as TSM tomorrow in ELEAGUE and FACEIT's Overwatch Open NA Qualifier #1 - no doubt with a legion of new fans cheering them on.
The Team SoloMid roster is:
- Anthony "harbleu" Ballo (Flex)
- Jake "torkTJO" Lepoff (DPS)
- Nicolas "NicolasTJO" Aubin (DPS)
- Joey "jkw" Wavering (Tank)
- Joe "Joemeister" Gramano (Support)
- Jack "Shake" Kaplan (Support)
