ESL are playing host to The Amazon Gaming Series, a €10,000 online tournament running from 20th - 25th June. The two qualifiers and subsequent 4-team playoffs are organised by Amazon.fr and sponsored by Intel, ASUS RoG, and Windows 10.

The Amazon Gaming Series consists of two qualifier tournaments on 20th June at 20:00 CEST and on 22nd June at 20:00 CEST. The top two teams from each of these qualifiers will have earned the right to fight for their share of the €10,000 on Saturday 25th June at 19:00 CEST. With no invitational spots, even the top teams will have to slug it out in the qualifiers and prove their worth.

The prize money for the Amazing Gaming Series is broken down as:

  • 1st: €5,000
  • 2nd: €3,000
  • 3rd: €1,000

This tournament is not running any hero limits, which sets it aside from other tournaments currently running such as the JoshOG Invitational, Operation Breakout, and the GosuGamers Weeklies. This poses a dilemma for the top European teams and will force them to practise both game-modes in preparation for multiple tournaments.

It would appear that the prize pool of this tournament is large enough, however, to warrant practising Overwatch without hero limits for a week in order to take home the first place prize of €5,000.

ESL's official page states that "the best matches of the tournament will be broadcast in French only" on the Amazon portal. A lack of English coverage would be disappointing for non-francophones, and as yet a secondary stream has not been announced.
