SG-1 have lost their support hocz, who has quit the team due to his upcoming marriage in summer! As far as reasons for not being able to commit time to Overwatch go, this is one of the better ones, and SG-1 have taken the opportunity to replace him with Lazei.
Lazei is a previous WoW player who was seen in Overwatch playing for Paragon alongside SG-1 players Seita and fragi before June. When the latter two left to join SG-1, Lazei was abandoned, but the loss of hocz has given them an opportunity to reunite.
SG-1 have been a solid European Overwatch team for a number of months, rarely able to upset the tier-1 rosters but always able to get deep enough in the tournaments to contest them. They notably had an upset over REUNITED in The Plays Launch Night, but haven't been able to repeat that performance and have been knocked out of recent tournaments repeatedly by EnVyUs. They played tonight in the GosuGamers Weekly NA #12, overcoming Assertion Failed before dropping to EnVyUs in the Quarter Finals.
hocz on leaving:
I left because I can't put in the time for playing as much as others in the team would like to. I got work and lot of stuff is going on during summer because I'm getting married and stuff like that. Anyway I wish them the best and I'm sure they can easily be a top team in EU if they just stick together.
The team will be sticking together and aiming to improve to a level where they can consistently upset top teams. The roster for SG-1 is now:
- Joona "fragi" Laine
- Seita
- Lazei
- Kalle "hymzi" Honkala
- Joonas "zappis" Alakurtti
- Lauri "mafu" Rasi
