In the team's announcement, the Valiant spoke about Stoop's role with the team:
Under the leadership of Head Coach Moon, Stoop will act as the head coach to the Valiant’s secondary roster. Coach Stoop will oversee the growth of players not currently on the main roster by leading scrims, VOD reviews, and other key areas of player development. Additionally, he will liaise with the entire LA Valiant coaching staff in strategy development and player scouting.
Stoop joins the squad after most recently serving as the head coach of Mosaic Esports. Despite serving as their coach since October, he departed the team before it's first official match earlier this month.
Stoop will head the team's sister team, which was revealed by the Valiant in the third episode of the team's "Inside LA Valiant" YouTube series. The players not on their main squad play as a sister team to the starting lineup, despite the franchise only having 11 players overall. While Stoop is expected to also have some involvement with the team's starters, his main role will be coaching this sister team.
