As well as Fearless and Ado.
irishfire [#2]Did anyone else think it was funny that if you scroll down to the responses, another argument breaks out over the need of more\less women in OWL
Yeh and it always boils down the usual arguments, when there's only 1 valid one:
Whoever has the skillset and attitude to be part of a pro scene deserves to be in it, REGARDLESS of his/her sex, sex shouldn't make it easier or harder, ever.

I just hate Feminists that make Gender an issue in something that has nothing to do with Gender. I don't want to sound stereotypical right now, but aren't all the women in top 500 all Mercy mains. In order to make OWL, you need to play more then one hero

Eh I'm not a top 500 (barely gold lol), but there are very good female players (not just in OW), one of my friends is a pro player.
Yes ok she's pro in the Italian COD scene, which is not exactely the highest tier of pro esports, but still when you speak to her, she's pretty adamant:
"I will never like having a spot in a top tier team just 'cause I'm a woman, I grinded to get here, I deserve it, I play better than many males but worse than the vast majority of pros in bigger teams, as easy as that"

that isn't because girls only can or only want to play mercy, the culture for girls taking games serious or girls being taken serious isn't there yet. Unfortunately many girls feel ridiculed immediately when they try something, especially in serious multiplayer games, so they hide behind stuff like mercy(if a boy is bad it's because he's bad, and if a girl is bad it's because she is a girl). hopefully this will change as the culture for serious girls in esport grow. I 100% believe when it comes to video games, girls have the same potential, and can play at the same level as guys.
It's all about culture, at a basic level it's the same reason girls aren't as "good" as boys, that Koreans are way better than the rest of the world.

I think your point is kind of the problem in the community, that everyone expects that all good female OW players are mercy one tricks. I do think that to get into OWL it should solely be based on skill, but it's unfair to shut down others for saying that more females should be in the league. The people that you are referring to in the comments under the post aren't even making gender an issue, they're just saying their support and how they wish more women were in the league.

Agreed and well said

You guys are both right, but reading a statement like.
"need more girls in esports" are simply invalid ,per se.
What we need is more good players, being the females, males or trans, doesn't and shouldn't really matter, what should define you as professional is not your sex, but what you do (and how good you do it), how you behave and interact with the people around you.
Blue [#10]Congratz to her, but I dont think its enough to get the SHD out of the OWL basement
They also picked other players apparently, what worries me more is language, I don't know how common it is for Koreans to actuallly know Chinese, I'm pretty positive is very uncommon for Chinese to know Korean.
You say, there's always English, but then watch all interviews (and not just in Overwatch) of Chinese players, they always have a translator, even for veternas who have been playing on international stages for years.
Hmm. I’ve seen what Geguri can do but she never won a pro match. I mean, to me she hasn’t proven herself in the pro scene yet. Ranked and professional are very very different. She’s also Korean, so that’s going to be a language issue
As much as I hate to say it , it might be a publicity stunt.
I’m rooting for her though, best of luck!
