Talon Esport’s venture into competitive Overwatch has ended before it ever truly began, with the organisation announcing that they have released their roster after the team's failure to qualify for the Pacific Championship.
Talon had their sights firmly locked on a spot in the tournament, housing their roster at a team house in Taiwan and bringing in mkL from the West as a coach. With a healthy selection of talent from the Taiwan and Hong Kong, including Moowe who played for Hong Kong at the Shanghai World Cup qualifiers, the team was one of the favorites to earn a spot in Season 2 of the Pacific Championship.
Initial results in the Season 2 Qualifiers were promising for Talon, defeating Japanese teams SunSister and Cyclops in the online group stage to secure a spot at the LAN playoffs alongside Ardeont, DeToNator.Korea and Libalent Supreme. To qualify for the exclusive tournament Talon had to place either first or second in the four team GSL style playoffs. It was not to be however, with 3-1 losses to DeToNator and Libalent eliminating Talon from the playoffs.
The roster's failure to qualify for the Pacific Championship resulted in their release, as specified in Talon's official announcement:
With the completion of the Overwatch Pacific Championship qualifiers for season 2, Talon Esports were unfortunately unable to secure a spot in the league. Now due to the lack of competitive opportunities in the region we have come to the difficult decision of disbanding the current squad.
Talon Esports' final roster was:
- Chi-Yeung "Moowe" Yip (DPS)
- Jun-Cheng "Eso" Wu (DPS)
- Chia-Hao "Lunch" Chang (Flex)
- Wei-Hsiang "Hanji" Cheng (Tank)
- Tsung-Chen "SmallPon" Lee (Support)
- Wei "Yuri" Chen (Support)
- Mikael "mkL" Skjønhaug (Coach)
