Edit: It has been announced that Ardeont is the result of merger between Mighty AOD and Monster.KR.
The Pacific Championship's alluring prize pool has attracted some of Korea's best free agent talent to form Ardeont. Former players of Mighty AOD have joined forces with Dayfly – last seen playing for Afreeca Freecs Blue at IEM Gyeonggi – and solo que player, republic, to compete in the Pacific Championship Season 2 Qualifiers.
Mighty AOD struggled in group A of APEX Season 3, considered by many as the 'group of death'. The team was only able to secure a single victory in their group, dropping matches against Rogue and Lunatic-Hai. Players KariV and FaTe were acquired by Immortals since the team's elimination from the tournament. With no luck in being picked up by a North American organisation, diem, ErsTer, ThornCut and anomo (formerly known as sleep) make up the core of the new team.
Players Dayfly and republic round out the roster. Dayfly found success with Afreeca Freecs Blue in the first season of APEX, making it to the grand final. However, a disappointing result at IEM Gyeonggi resulted in a team shake-up. Dayfly was moved to the reserve position for Afreeca Freecs Red and eventually cut altogether. Their wildcard, republic, has no known team history.
Ardeont competed in the group stage of the Pacific Championship Season 2 Qualifiers, securing a playoff spot without losing a map. They will travel to Taiwan in July to compete in the qualifiers' offline playoffs, hosted in Blizzard's Taipei eStadium. A top two finish will secure the team a place in season 2 of the Pacific Championship, an attractive bounty when the 272,000~ USD prize pool of season 1 is considered. The playoffs of the inaugural season commence today in a semi-final matchup between Blank Esports and AHQ.
