The new additions are DPS players Flora and AlphaYi , as well as main tank Takoyaki .

Flora will enter Contenders competition in 2020 for the first time by joining Meta Athena. He was previously a member of O2 Blast in 2019 but has not been on a team since.

AlphaYi joins Meta Athena after spending two years with GC Busan Wave. AlphaYi split with the team after the sponsor dropped the team and picked up a new roster.

Takoyaki, like Flora, last played in 2019. He was a member of Element Mystic, a team he played with en route to a Contenders Korea title and a runner-up finish in two seasons. He was not a part of their championship Gauntlet roster.

Meta Athena now has a full Contenders roster with eight players. They have three DPS players and two main tanks.

They last played in the second week of Contenders 2020 Korea Season 1. They were eliminated in the first round that week, meaning they will be sent back to the next week of Contenders Trials. They finished second the last time they played in Contenders Trials.
