spazzo joined Fusion University in November of 2018 and coached the team to two Contenders North America titles and one season in the top six of Contenders Korea.
Fusion University moved to Contenders Korea prior to the start of Contenders 2019 Season 2. They had to play through Contenders Trials to qualify for the new season of Contenders. They made the move to comply with Contenders' region lock after building a majority Korean roster.
According to the roster construction rules of the 2020 season, an academy team must compete in the same geographic region as their parent team in the 2020 season or else they will lose their academy status. However, academy teams currently competing outside their parent organization's region can be grandfathered into the 2020 season for a limited period of time. This means Fusion University can continue to compete in Korea as an academy team for part of the 2020 season.
Four of Fusion University's players left the team to join the Overwatch League this offseason. The roster currently has only three players who have not officially left the team as of yet.
The next season of Contenders begins in 2020.
