There are plenty of regular open entry tournaments like ESL Go4 Overwatch and r/CompetitiveOverwatch community cups (to name but a few) where any team can enter.

In response to Raz9r, seaDee and hugo re: developer contributions and going open source, it's not something that we are considering at present.

We definitely appreciate people's enthusiasm and offers of help, but for the foreseeable future site development will continue to be a closed operation.

We are always listening out for feedback and suggestions on the Site Discussion subforum.

It's been a while since our last recruitment drive, but I'm always on the hunt for a few good slaves. We run a tight ship here at over.gg, with just a handful of people working to chronicle the tales of the burgeoning global professional Overwatch scene, but we need your help to do more and do it better.

The most time intensive task is still the live updating of the match ticker. If you watch a lot of live tournament streams you might consider helping us capture detailed results or maybe you are a VOD junkie and might be interested in keeping our match archives up to date?

The match ticker is not for the fainthearted. You don't get the kudos of being a writer, the hours are terrible and sometimes you barely even get to enjoy the game(s!) you are watching. You have to be a special kind of nerd for this work, but if you possess a love of the monotonous and a burning desire to painstakingly document the world this might be your calling.

There are essentially two of us working to cover all the pro matches happening globally, although we only manage cover a fraction of what is going on at any one time. I'd love to build a larger team to cover more (and sleep more!). Covering NA matches all night is detrimental to my health (not just because of the garbage plays), so feel free to come to my rescue. Obviously I'd love to hear from you if follow the European and Asian scenes (maybe even ANZ and South America if there is interest?). If you speak Korean or Chinese I will suck your dick.

I also think we can do a better job with our written coverage. We have lists upon lists of stories that could be covered and those are only the ones we know about. Whilst we have fabulous wordsmiths like Sideshow and Harsha churning out the Reddit bait on the regular, I think someone with an aptitude for writing short news stories in a timely fashion could add a lot to our current coverage. Again, bonus points if you can decipher the Asian scene.

Although I've tried to be specific, don't let me tell you what you can do. There are a plethora of other ways to contribute to the rise of the over.gg empire if you are creatively minded.

If you want to get involved you can pitch to me in this thread or PM me through the site or the over.gg Discord or even if you just want to heckle from your ivory tower and tell me what we can do better, I'm all ears.

Too expensive to house nV, wanted to kick them out ASAP.

Check out Plus Forward too, they probably have the most comprehensive match ticker.

We stealthy released some of the reworked event features last Friday.

You can see Events in the navbar up top or click the link from a match page.

Moving forward each tournament will have it's own event hub, although we don't have a complete historical record of previous events.

Not all of the event features are currently enabled, but you can expect to see tournament format, descriptions, brackets and standings come online when they are ready for release.

Beyond that the next major feature will be the addition of team profiles!

Pro teams seem to be throwing a fairly wide net currently when looking for new players. Probably because there are no major tournaments on the horizon?

Just play with as many potential candidates as possible and see if you can find some magic before the OWL!

I don't know exactly when it happened, but at some point people really started to engage more in over.gg discussions.

When I log in in the morning and see interesting debates on the news and editorials, people even posting their own essays to the forums and some beautifully crafted shitposts... well... it just warms my heart.
