I think the DPS duo of Saebyeolbe/Libero is fantastic, or even if it becomes Flow3r in the future. All those players are incredibly talented and I'm pumped to have them on the roster.
I think the rest of the roster is extremely mediocre and unproven. Doesn't matter if they've played with LW Blue- lots of them have very little experience playing in the pro scene (maybe barring Mano) and I just don't think the roster will succeed, even if they've been together for a bit. If they had kept Libero/SBB/Mano an de then added in the best NA and EU support and flex players, you could've had something special.
And yes, I am annoyed about how another massively diverse city is once again simply putting out a full Korean team that was bought out just because the New York owners assumed they'd be better and were lazy, without putting much thought into crafting an all-star, OWL-caliber roster. Being a New Yorker, its just not a team I see myself rooting for, and I can tell a lot of fans in London may feel the same way.
Just my opinion though.
What do you think?
Think that's the problem with OWL, how many teams will people want to support? can't see too many Americans rolling out to support a full Korean lineup or even Misfits if they get in, imagine if OWL does explode and home games are played in NY in arenas with around 4k people, how many will turn up to watch this full Korean roster?
Think the Boston folk are dying to turn up to support the Boston Uprising?
Things and rosters will most likely change by season 2, so it's good to keep that in mind.
I know you love ranting about these things, but let's see Season 1 plays out first before we jump to conclusions about how no one will support these teams.
Despite what I say about the NY team, and how I'm not happy that it's all Korean, I'm still gonna support them. I'm a New Yorker, and I'm gonna cheer for whatever team represents New York. We just have to accept that this is how the first season 2 is going to be like.
I think forcing diversity because NY is a diverse city makes little sense from a competitive point of view, though I can understand your feelings on this I also think they aren't entirely justified until the team actually plays and performs.
By the way, them being unproven is an interesting quote, considering how far they got in previous APEX seasons and them picking up one of the best Korean takes available.
It's also a fact that Season 1 will be in LA, so the local aspect of the league doesn't quite kick in, giving teams time to do their best to market their squads and make the changes that will inevitably come after the first season.
I'll say this, in terms of team strength I don't think they would have been better off as a KR/NA/EU mix but we'll see how far being marketable gets you since we have a few examples to base ourselves off of in the form of SF and Houston or Boston's mix model.
So you honestly think there won't be any full Korean/Swedish etc rosters in S2? naive.
So when I say something I'm ranting yet you just said the exact same thing before backtracking when you put your OWL fanboy hat on.
Being a New Yorker, its just not a team I see myself rooting for, and I can tell a lot of fans in London may feel the same way. >

So anyone other than yourself agreeing with that is ranting and most likely being negative towards the mighty OWL? fucking hilarious.
I am loving this brand. It might be a little bit jarring at first, but by god I loved it. They definitely hit one of my top lists so far for how OWL team are approaching their branding/fandoms, NXYL pushed their first video in a "Adidas/Nike/whatever" type of ad, and it's just fit. I don't know why. For me, it's definitely on par with how Seoul, SF, and Dallas pushing their brand to the common fans so far. The shortened name to NYXL is clever too imo, and also with that roster I gotta support my fellow former TF2 brethren.
