The southern beaches of South Korea have given birth to GC Busan, the ascendant Challenger team who are set to make their premier tournament debut in OGN APEX Season 4. With the season beginning in mere hours, the team has confirmed the signings of former MVP Space support Closer and free agent tank player WOOHYAL. Former support ReungReung has also been released.
GC Busan made their entry into the highest level of Korea from the Road to APEX, placing in the top eight to qualify for APEX Challengers Season 4. Once there, they took the season by storm with 1st and 2nd place finishes in the first and second round robin group stages. Thanks to the changes with promotion/relegation this season, the team avoided Super Week and went straight to APEX Season 4.
Closer joins after hopping from team to team; he initially went from MVP Space to DeToNator.KOREA, but with DeToNator failing to secure their ticket to the Pacific Championship Season 2, he decided instead to reappear on an APEX-bound team. His arrival also sees the departure of ReungReung, a wNv.KR refugee that joined back in April.
WOOHYAL’s recruitment marks the beginning of his APEX journey. With no history in any other competition since playing for ACE White in the MSI MGA Qualifiers in 2016, the tank player has a lot of eyes on him as he looks to prove himself on the big stage.
The team was drawn with fellow challengers LuxuryWatch Red and ROX Orcas, and APEX Season 3 bronze medallists, Afreeca Freecs Blue, in Group C of APEX Season 4. They’ll kick of the season tonight against LW Red in the OGN studios.
The GC Busan roster is now:
- Lee "Hooreg" Dong-eun (DPS)
- Hong "Gesture" Jae-hee (Tank)
- Moon "Ariel" Ji-seok (Tank)
- Park "Profit" Joon-yeong (Flex)
- Jo "HaGoPeun" Hyeon-woo (Support)
- Jung "Closer" Won-sik (Support)
- Sung "WOOHYAL" Seung-hyun (Backup Tank)
