After a failed run in OGN APEX Season 3, Flash Lux have announced the additions of Oberon and CoMa to their roster.
The team has seen play in every season of OGN APEX, but have ended up dropping out of the group stage every time. In APEX Season 3, Flash Lux had to compete in Super Week, APEX’s promotion and relegation tournament, after placing last in their group in APEX Season 2. In the promotion tournament, they initially dropped into the Losers’ Group, but were able to make it through the group and avoid a fate in Challengers.
In the regular season of Season 3, they were placed in a group with LW Blue, CONBOX Spirit, and MVP Space, but they couldn’t garner any wins and ended up with an 0-3 record and a last place finish.
Oberon is the phoenix name of Tarpon, who previously played with BK Stars in APEX Season 3. During his period with the team, he only saw a win against Rhinos Gaming Wings before suffering losses to EnVyUs and Meta Athena. From the ashes of BK Stars, rises Oberon on Flash Lux, as he looks to light up the skies on a new team.
CoMa makes his return after being a Runaway in APEX Season 2. The support player saw action for Runner and co. in APEX Season 2’s Super Week and for most of the Group Stage, before being switched out for Bumper as the team went on a run to earn a silver medal in the grand finals against Lunatic-Hai.
Although Flash Lux finished at the bottom of their group this season, they won’t have to fight for their spot in APEX this time, as OGN recently revealed that APEX Season 4’s Super Week will be abolished. With no foreign teams being invited due to Overwatch Contenders Season 1, and the disbandment of multiple Korean teams, the remaining Korean teams from Season 3 will retain their spots for Season 4, with the remaining slots being filled by the top five teams from APEX Challenger Season 4. Without the risk of relegation, Flash Lux will have time to find the spark to bring the team to a bright light.
The Flash Lux roster is now:
- Kim "Veil" Ho-wook (DPS)
- Kim "Fleta" Byung-sun (Flex)
- Kim "Weeso" Sang-woo (Tank)
- Kim "Modern" Su-hoon (Tank)
- Kim "Kisu" Do-hyun (Support)
