Thoughts? I'm very skeptical until we get more details as it seems like they want to run with a similar model to the CGS league (way back then for CS:S).

However I think if any developer were to pull it off it would be Blizzard given the amount of attention and resources they are throwing towards esports lately.

City-based! Weird. Interesting. They've had a guy being paid full time to think about this for a few months now. Seems they're thinking about growing the spectators by creating regions of support like in American sports. Ambitious.

I think that having teams represent cities is great for building fan bases. Even if the team owner changes from season to season, fans can continue root for the same city.

I'm skeptical about the whole "combine" system, given how team-focused Overwatch is. I also expect some politics to be involved in the invites.

Overall, looking forward to season 1!

As long as Blizzard will not hinder any 3rd party international tournaments (like Riot Games does), I think this idea might work pretty well.
