The earliest start on Day 2 of the Atlantic Showdown at gamescom was to fall to Group B's Decider match. Rogue entered the fixture as favourites despite carrying the mantle of loser of the winners after an epic 3.5 map series last night against REUNITED that could only be settled by an Ilios tiebreaker. Yesterday compLexity fought hard to redeem themselves after getting obliterated by REUNITED in their opening fixture and boy did they find redemption, defeating Cloud9 2-1 in one of the biggest shocks of the tournament so far.
Watchpoint: Gibraltar was the map that sealed coL's previous victory, so it may have seemed fortuitous that it was ESL's preset map for the Decider Matches, but that's only if you forget that Rogue are the original gods of Gibraltar with well-established LAN tenure on the rock from TaKeOver, long before harbleu was claiming it as his Roadhog playground.
Roadhog was to be harbleu's opener as coL found themselves attacking first with NicolasTJO's Tracer and torkTJO's Genji providing the poke, catching out the aggressive defence and enabling steady payload progress through man advantage. It was only when they reached the hangar that Rogue was able to stop them in their tracks; TviQ with a murderous five-man from the medpack room as the rest of his team applauded from atop the shuttle with the ghost of 2GD nodding in approval.

The response was immediate as we saw harbleu don his monkey suit and NicolasTJO looking for an edge with Reaper. They battled hard to dislodge the defenders from their lofty perch with mixed results until Rogue actually took an ill-advised engagement, dropping down to meet a torkTJO Dragonblade. The payload was mere metres from completing the hangar phase with both teams short on heroes and positioning non-existent as they grappled on the ground when winz unleashed a Graviton Surge that would set up uNKOE's Zenyatta for two as Rogue barricaded the hangar door.
Over the remaining 2:30 compLexity failed to composed themselves, spooging numerous ultimates up the walls and allowing Rogue to maintain the ult advantage throughout to finally deny them capture at a distance of 79.15m. Now compLexity's turn to defend they open with a composition sans-Reinhardt putting Jkw on Winston. It works well as Rogue struggle to make the second checkpoint. Third time was the charm though, Reinforce finding the pin on Tracer as aKm's McCree took full advantage of another winz Surge on the upper level.
D.Va makes her first appearance in the hands of harbleu as the defence looks to abuse the verticality of the hangar. Rogue ignore the threat of death from above and bum-rush the payload, turning the heads of coL and gifting aKm a fat three-kill Deadeye from behind, but it's a bittersweet moment as he watches his teammates disintegrated seconds later by D.Va's Self Destruct - harbleu with three frags of his own.
90 seconds remain for Rogue to push the payload and coL are playing a dangerous game, allowing them within touching distance of their marker before dropping down from the shuttle at the last second to crush the attack. It feels like déjà vu 45 seconds later as Rogue are wiped again, this time by a torkTJO Deadeye in the back from the gantry. It all comes down to a final roll of the dice as they rally the troops from spawn to reach the payload and keep the overtime dream alive. TviQ's Genji finds the first pick, crucially taking out the main damage dealer, torkTJO on McCree, so that when Jkw lands the hero three-man Earthshatter there is no follow up. Rogue dust themselves themselves off, uNKOE pops Transcendence and they cross the finish line to take the first map!

Hanamura was the loser's pick coming out from a compLexity side who had found good results on it during qualification, taking out Team Liquid and ohno with Torbjorn, the analysts told us. The Swedish dwarf wasn't to feature, but all eyes were on another Swede as the we waited to see if TviQ would conjure up any Mei magic today whilst Rogue set themselves up for the first defence. Mind games were afoot though as Reaper was to be his pick, tucking himself in the corner close to the window restricting any information to the attackers. By the time coL realised there was no Mei threat Reinforce, uNKOE and aKm had picked up a brace each and compLexity were back to square one.
Two kills in the back lines from NicolasTJO's Tracer set coL up for a man advantage push as their spawns would come in significantly faster. Great awareness from Rogue sees them retreat temporarily, only the regroup and burst back in to collapse on Point A with a KnOxXx Sound Barrier speed push to overwhelm the attackers. Barely 2 minutes remained when the subsequent respawn push from compLexity ran aground at the iconic gates of Hanamura; every ultimate on the server was popped off, but after the initial confusion it was a timely winz Graviton in to aKm Deadeye that came up trumps with 3 kills. During the next play somehow harbleu manages to backcap Point A and against the flow the game compLexity gather momentum to snowball on to last against a disorganised Rogue to end the round with 4:03 remaining in their time bank.
Rogue's first attack brings out the TviQ Genji and aKm Tracer as they look to exploit the flanks of the traditional chokepoint defence, but compLexity don't even hold at the gate, instead opting to sit deep inside on the steps of Point A. Rogue stumble on the first attempt, but are unfazed and a well-executed pincer sees the coL with no room to manoeuvre. They fall quickly, respawning to find Rogue already knocking on the door of Point B with barely 3 minutes played. Another minute passes during which coL can only stall for time with cameos from D.Va and Mei. Rogue cap it out with 6:10 left in the time bank.
Defence #2 for Rogue and we finally see the TviQ Mei with an ice wall to shut down the first push. Then just as coL are assembling the pieces for their second push attempt, right at the point when they send two behind on the flanks, KnOxXx calls a speedboost push and Rogue rush out to deliver some brutal hospitality in the streets with a situational man advantage. TviQ stalls the flankers out on the point with more ice cold gimmicks and they wipe the North Americans. Much later coL do manage to find the frags needed to take Point A, but they flounder on B; punished yet again by aKm's revolver from the high ground as they watch their time bank expire.
It's do or die for compLexity with a 6 minute defence required just to take it to a tiebreaker. They choose not to defend at the gate again and actually deflect the first Rogue attack wave from their trademark stronghold inside Point A. TviQ survives though and has his Dragonblade up for a crowd control combo with Reinforce on Winston as Rogue collapse on the clumped up defenders for a decisive capture. A last ditch defence on Point B sees harbleu ditch Zarya for D.Va, but after the initial trade of ultimates TviQ reappears with a monstrous Dragonblade straight out of his ranked streams. No one can deal with cyborg ninja and as the bodies pile up the capture ticks over to eliminate compLexity from the tournament and send Rogue on to the semis to face EnVyUs.
GG! @ComplexityLive fall to @GoingRogueGG, who now move on to semi-finals! #Overwatchhttps://t.co/Jc7lOF4Ld4 pic.twitter.com/xU13sPY0Ii
