Vol’Jin was with the Fuel since the 2018 season, and previously coached for Meta Gaming. During his tenure with the Fuel, they were unable to qualify for the playoffs in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, and were eliminated in the second round of play-ins in the North American playoffs this season.
The move marks another shake-up in the Fuel’s coaching staff. In August, the team parted ways with assistant coach Tikatee and released head coach Aero. They currently only have Yong, their interim head coach since Aero’s release, on their coaching staff.
