Meta Athena's roster remained largely the same from the previous season of Contenders, with the exception of a new DPS duo, Poise and Tamper .

Both new additions have played in Contenders, but not in 2019. Poise last played for the now-defunct NRG Esports in 2018, while Tamper played very briefly in the same season on Lucky Future in Contenders 2018 Season 3: China. Tamper has since been playing in the Korean Open Division and Overwatch Korea Cups.

The new additions come after Meta Athena sent one of their players to the Overwatch League. Jerry, formerly a DPS player for the team, now plays for the Boston Uprising.

Meta Athena also made changes to their management staff. alwaysoov, previously the head coach for the team, has now transitioned to a general manager position. The team also added XOON (previously known as Modern) to the coaching staff. He was most recently a player for Warriors Esports in Contenders Australia, and a player on Meta Athena before that. This will be XOON's first coaching stint.

Meta Athena will be attempting to improve on their seventh place finish in the last season of Contenders Korea. They obtained a 2-5 match record in the regular season.

The team will be participating in the Contenders seeding tournament that will begin on January 15 for Korea.
