The Hunters cited health issues as the reason for his departure.
RUI joined the Chengdu Hunters in November 2018 following a brief stint as a coach for the Shanghai Dragons. Serving only four months with the Dragons, he left in May 2018, also due to health issues. According to a post on his personal Weibo account, RUI has announced the end of his coaching career.
While on the Hunters, RUI coached the team to a 13-15 match record in the 2019 regular season. Despite never qualifying for any stage playoffs, the team qualified for the play-ins during the postseason, where they lost in the first round to the Guangzhou Charge.
RUI was also the coach for the Chinese team at the World Cups in 2018 and 2019. For both World Cups, Team China left BlizzCon with a silver medal.
Chengdu's already small coaching staff is now down to a single member--assistant coach Ray. The Hunters will be participating in the Overwatch Shanghai Masters Invitational on December 1 without RUI. They will be facing off against the Guangzhou Charge in the semifinals.
